Another very decent performance and it tells you something that we’re a touch disappointed not to win it. McGinn was outstanding.

After having a very good first half against CP, Traore left Cash exposed by Chilwell, and that is where most of their danger came from. Have to say that technically Chelsea are right at the top but we coped and could have won. Ross B and Trez will give the opportunity to rest a couple. Onwards and upwards.

I dont know who was better out of McGinn and Luiz. Mount and Kante are fucking superb but both of ours absolutely ran that midfield.

If you want a good laugh, look at the neighbours message boards. SHA have their usual multi page Villa match thread, crying over Super Jack.

But MolMix has to be the most hilariously bitter thread I've seen in a while! Page after page of sanctimonious hang wringing about cheating when they have players diving week in and week out for penalties. Only Man United and the Wolves have had players booked for diving this year. Tsk tsk.

Think there's a bit of a bottom lip out. Much like those bitter tossers from Sandwell "knowing what they are..." so too the tatters from Dinglehampton have believed in "minding the gap" a bit too much. Now natural order in the universe is restored, it tae fair!
I've lived amongst them for 30 years, they have a massive vein busting hard on over us. They didnt mention us for the entire time i've been here, the absolute second they finished above us in 2016 or whatever it was, they were aching to create a rivalry, now normal service ol has been restored they can not handle it. I love it that the only thing they claim us to be is a diving club, they are the biggest diving ****** in the league by a mile. Neto, Adama, Coady, Podence, over the last month or so have been horrendous. Atleast Albion and Blues know what they are. These fuckers have the biggest chip in the country.
Modern day Coventry City, bunch of weird fuckers.

Danny Mills in having controversial opinions for money shocker. Why oh why anyone listens to Talkshite I have no idea.

Anyway cracking performance from the lads today, really enjoyed the tenacity and willingness to not be dictated to by a talented team. What we learnt is that we’re talented too though as Amazon Primes whole agenda seemed to be about Frank and his squad as usual we got no credit for what we did. That’ll change soon enough....
Townsend Le Saux very complimentary about us. Berlin was a bit of a Dick but I thought the coverage was fair.

Some of his comments took my breath away.

Re Cleverely
“ On 25 April 2015, he scored his first goal for the club in a 3–2 defeat to Manchester City.[88] He scored again in the following match, a 3–2 win at home to Everton.[89] He scored for the third match in a row for the first time in a 1–0 win at home to West Ham United.[90]”
I don’t remember any of that tbh.

I remembered him scoring two so guessed he might have got three and I had forgotten one. I assumed the poster wouldn't be asking the question if it was someone obvious like Benteke or even Gabby.

Strange, all I heard on the commentary was  "Mason Mount es los cojones del perro."

Over the years and certainly the many years we’ve been utter shit we’ve all seen teams that we thought we’d love our Villa to be like. It’s great that it’s now us.

I was thinking this earlier. Specific to this site. A good many of us have been on here through all the ups and mostly downs of the past 15+ years. It’s just great to begin to see the other side of it. We have a long way to go, but it feels for the first time since probably around 2007 that we might do something really good again.

That's it Lee, well said. A team that does not look out of place at all in the top 6-8

2 particular things I noticed: Chelsea were pressing much more assertively than in recent games, making our game a lot tougher.
The ref really set out his stall early, and it paid off - in terms of it being a better game and in terms of not stop-starting the game for minor / ambiguous infringements.

Villa were generally excellent: although Chelsea were clearly overloading their left side, I thought Traore did okay, Cash did really well and McGinn was outstanding.
Oh, and isn't it wonderful to have such a commanding keeper?!

Very true Mr E, I also thought that Konsa and Hause looked better balanced as a central pairing, on current form Mings may struggle to get back in the team.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
