I think if we'd had Trez and Barkley available for that game we'd have won

Man U will be a very tough test now. They will attack and counter very quickly. We will need to be at our best to get something up there bit no reason why we can’t.

First point gained after going behind this season? I'll take that.

Chelsea handled us better than I thought they would, but McGinn still had the best chance of the game after the equaliser.

Anwar El Goalzhi

We looked like we were starting to visibly tire second half and Chelsea looked fresher throughout - as well they might with six changes from their last game and bringing the likes of Werner off the bench.

The first point I can remember for a while that feels like a point gained rather than one dropped.

A very pleasing result. Non of the swashbuckling razzmatazz of previous games but we showed great resilience, heading, kicking and clearing the ball away, blocking everything and limiting Chelsea to very few clear cut chances. Martinez and defence superb and great games in front of them from Doug and McGinn. Thought Ramsey had won it towards the end but a good point to take.

Performances like this are probably more indicative of our improvement than comfortably beating teams like West Brom and Palace.  Remember, this is a team that qualified for the champions league and then went out and spent a quarter of a BILLION pounds strengthening the side.

This is side with title ambitions, and we went toe-to-toe with them, comfortably deserving of a point.

There have been games like this in the recent past where we've ended up folding, but this team continues to delight me.  Comfortable in possession, always looking to take the game to the opposition, defending resolutely and proper effort across the pitch.  Yes, Chelsea had periods where they looked good, but at no point did the result look like a foregone conclusion.

Unbeaten in five, and up to fifth! Onwards and upwards!

I can see Barkley coming in for Bert against Man U. Provide that extra cover through the middle.

Indeed. Or a longer rest after the Palace game.

Brilliant second half that, that's the difference to last season. Came out flying and could've edged it before retreating and playing out the 1-1 last 10 minutes. Ramsey so unlucky with that shot.

The other difference was that Chilwell shot would've flown in top corner last year so also need a bit of luck at times but we earnt it by digging in.

Great and well deserved point. Thought we hung on a bit at times to be honest.
Chelsea made 6 changes, had a bench that cost 240 million and still could / should have won the game. We made one change due to suspension and didn't really have many options on the bench that could change a game.
That's the gulf between our squad and a top 6 side. That said we are a team growing by the game and who knows what we could achieve.
UP THE VILLA !!!

We do face a dilemma about resting some of our more consistent performers at some stage over the next few games.

Particularly the ones with international commitments.  They've been going at it solid since June this year with just a short break in August.

Very good performance that. Although not devastating, Chelsea looked technically a lot better than other teams we've played recently. Many good performances, SJM motm for me. Well done lads
