Where have you been? Ben Mee is an absolute animal who assaulted Wesley so badly he's lost a whole season. He did the exact same to Joe Gomez. He was an inch away from opening up Ollie Watkins face tonight. That's where the comment came from. Maybe I wouldn't wish a broken leg on him but if he did get injured I wouldn't be losing any sleep.

I have to say that the level of vitriol on the Match Thread and the degree of negativity on this thread is saddening. Yes, we should have won; yes, we missed a number of good chances; yes, some players are not to the high standard to which some on here aspire.
However, over the last three games we have played some really good football, created lots of chances and extended the experience of a number of players getting Premier League football.
We are a team in transition; characterised by inconsistency. We're getting better and are light years away from last season.
AEG got dog's abuse on twitter: read the match thread back (and there are some of my comments on there!) and this thread and - perhaps - reflect on whether the abuse is confined to twitter.

I have no idea about the abuse players get on Twitter, but El Ghazi was dreadful tonight.
Very similar to performances last season.

Great guy, and without doubt, instrumental in our promotion. He's not good enough for this level.

Hardly dreadful was he, he created chances, he had chances, he didn’t take them. That’s hardly dreadful is it?

I don't bother with the match thread.
I get the instant reaction but some comments are OTT for me.
Besides I can't multitask.

It's not OTT being disappointed that a forward cannot do better than softly hitting the goalie from 10ft. Numerous times.

I'm not apologetic being more demanding this season, we are a different team.

As for Traore, he is not fit, shouldn't be playing.

Yeah that was a terrible tackle...once he stepped out from the line you just knew he was going to do Grealish. No attempt to play the ball whatsoever. Ref does his job and Mee doesn't keep fouling all second half.

Surprised Watkins is getting some stick, he wasn’t wasteful and got into some good positions. If AEG, Grealish and Traore had got their head up he could have missed a few like they did had they passed to him.

There were a couple of times in the replays where I thought Ollie should have been screaming for the ball to be squared to him, but he seemed content for El Ghazi/Jack to take on the shot.
There’s a lot pressure on him to get the goals. It’s such a shame we don’t have another option if he’s not having the best of games. Davis for all his attributes isn’t that other option unfortunately.

He wasn’t much kop last season though was he and I imagine it’s going to take a fair while for him to get back to at least that level after such a lengthy lay off.
