There was a Sky twat (I forget which one, there are so many) last week who said Villa will be ok this season but they will bore their way to safety.

That aged well.

Fucking Sky do my head in, and I'm glad I cancelled my subscription.  Co-commentators who recently played for Man U and Liverpool, and the same with the pundits in the studio.  Where was somebody like Dion Dublin or Tony Daley to tell Souness he was talking out of his hoop?

I couldn't give a shit about the studio pundits, they can be as biased as they like but having Carragher as the co-commentator was a horrible decision, he was clearly biased and then once we had the 6th he sounded like he could burst into tears at any moment.

As for when the nerves went for me it was McGinns goal. In the last 10 years we've become accustomed, in games where we've taken an unexpected lead, to sitting back and trying to defend what we have, particularly if the opposition pull a goal back. Last night they scored to come back to 2-1 and if anything we pushed harder for our 3rd. The attitude of knowing we had more goals in us was, for me, very reassuring.

What a delight to walk round the school this morning and hearing the  kids asking me? Have you seen Aston Villa sir?
Can't wait to go back this afternoon.

He's just playing the part Sky want him to, 'dour, washed up irrelevent ex-hard man, surly and moaning that no-one is as good as in my day'. And he's still only an understudy to Roy Keane in that role.

Great player. Arsehole.

I’ve just woken up after a night flight to Brussels from New York.

Just before we took off, I had this strange dream that Villa won 7-2 against the team that everyone was tipping to be Champions again this season.

It might be because I’m still slightly delirious after a broken sleep but this appears to have genuinely happened.

Watching the game back - Liverpool did play some nice stuff, but we totally out thought them in every aspect there. When we went 1-0 up, you could see that they were working the ball really well and trying to get back into the game. The 2nd and 3rd were sucker punches to them and to go in 4-1 at half time was going to be a hugely demotivating thing. We were excellent though. We were fast, speedy, played in brilliantly behind them. Liverpool had to look for the goals to bring the score but each time they did that, we hit them on the break - with incredible speed. We could have had 9 or 10 at least and that would have been fair.

I like Klopp and his honesty - a bit like Dean, they’re both not afraid to talk about tactics and what worked/didn’t work.

What are the odds on us winning the league now? I might have a £10 bet on that...

Same thing here with online uni classes this morning. A few very sheepish Liverpool fans (only because of Minamino, may I add. All Villa need is a Japanese international and we'd be huge!) and students raving about Grealish. I sat there very smugly and said 'I know'.

Thought he was as magnanimous as he could be under the circumstances. Even with the deflections, he was playing those down and saying how good we looked on attack.

Also said he was glad to see Villa stay up as the Premier League needs clubs like us and he loves the ground etc.

Towards the end he was laughing at their ineptitude more than anything else.

The alternative is Alan Smith, who - despite supposedly being a Villa fan - sounds like every match of ours he has to cover is a chore.

I think a very big thank you to the owners is in order. They’ve backed the management and are rewarded accordingly. I fear nobody now.

And, Grealish is steadily becoming my favourite ever player.

I don’t think he is a Villa fan, I thought he supported Everton as a kid.

One thing that did stand out for me was the pressing of the Liverpool team, we were all over them and didn’t let the, settle from start to finish. Great intensity to our play.

Thought McGinn was outstanding and totally bullied them

Oh and a message for Southgate

Get the team sheet stationary already printed with Grealish - then just fill in the rest

He is the best English midfield player in the country by a mile - no discussion, no argument - he just is.

Don't bullshit us with "His position" "Other players for that role"

Build the team around him - simple
