Thought his tracking back was exceptional, an outstanding game with his energy.

He was excellent. I was skeptical when we Re signed him, not on ability but on attitude but he's been a great pro and and excellent signing this time. Today really summed that up and with Kamara out I'd much sooner have him than not. Like someone else said, I feel more confident when he's in the side, very classy and plenty of experience.

on that performance he can stay another season ,  rob edwards will have to wait.

He'll be useful to have with all the additional games in the Champions League.

If there was a choice between Dougie and Ross at the end of the season I hope it's Ross.

I would see the former as the medium term replacement of the latter give the age profile.

Barkley is 5 years older. Excellent today and decent at Old Trafford but there were some pretty horrendous cameos from him before then off the bench. Luiz had a couple of poor games but has been decent since he came back for me. Think Barkley has another year left in any case.

I don't agree, I don't think he really has had that many terrible cameos.

No he’s a good player - I see them both being part of the squad next year and Doug being the longer-term player for Ross’s role.

Barkley's been quality since he signed. Problem is the knocks, not contribution when fit.

Thought he deserved to stay on, he was in the thick of it. Really impressed.

Fantastic first touch with either foot. Really impressed with how he got around the pitch.

I only recall him losing the ball twice all game, one of which he won in a tackle and fired that shot that the 'keeper had to save.

Great that he had a good game as I have been sceptical.
Him coming into some form with our 2 returnees bodes well.

Dougie is currently playing a role that Dean Smith had him in circa 2020.  Except now he is a bit older and wiser and can play it better.  Ross Barkley is showing us what a fantastic footballer he is and its a shame he isn't in the Europa League squad.

With the injuries we get in that position and how vital midfields are, I hope we keep both for the squad next season.  In fact, when Kamara is back, a squad of Kamara, Tielemans, McGinn, Onana, Bogarde, Barkley and Luiz is superb IF fully fit.
