There’s a very different take on all this on Facebook from something called the Villa Goalzone.  No idea how clued up they are. Alarming if true though.

True or just some fantasist making bullshit up?

That's just a fan page where people share all kinds of theories. 'facts' are posted from page to page, on to/from Twitter etc. Everyone claiming it's fact each time.

Basically someone suggesting the senior players were hawked out to go buyers in January and Martinez never wanted to leave but was told in January club wanted him to leave.

I get the anger i really do. But while he is a villa player i see it pointless to turn on him.

As long as he puts his all on the pitch to redeem  himself then i can forget and move on

Same here, its hardly a two way street in terms of loyalty is it. We've just spent the summer with the prime focus of shifting players outward. It happens.

I hope he comes back, is accepted, and gets on with being a top keeper, and he will with a WC around the corner. And in the meantime we can get some work done on identifying a replacement.

Me too.  Booing players wearing our shirt should be reserved for Hodge.

..and Savo at Blackburn.

It's been posted by numerous people on different pages ans sites, and all say it's the truth. Because the person they copied it from said it was.

Some of them have said the senior players were very unhappy and that's why performances were poor. Ignoring that only Man City were better for the last 10 league games.

Yeah, I guess until the final whistle on the last day, there were a number of scenarios possible for the summer but none set in stone, they couldn’t be.

I mean it’s a reasonable scenario but why would you tell him that in Jan when we were still in the CL and could have made it again, which would have changed everything. On the balance of probabilities, I’d go no.

Thing is right no one is going to know what’s right or wrong, beyond the club and the player. Whatever happened he obviously thought he was leaving at the end of last season. But he’s here now either, so best all parties move on as he’s in our best team. If he didn’t behave great, then he’s allowed a mistake given what he’s done for the club.

Before reading that, whether true or not, the last few games have had air of staleness and looking like something is not quite right in the camp.

Even if we did say we would let him go if a reasonable offer came in, that doesn't mean we would let him go to a rival on loan, so we had no way of replacing him. Because why the fuck would anyone do that?

I'd be surprised if 90%+ of our squad don't know the price we'd need to let them go?  Surely it's their agent's job to know what that number is - or to have a very good indication of what it would be.  Sure, Rogers' would be £150m.  Cash probably £15m, and so on.  I don't think there is anything wrong with that being known by the squad; every player knows they have a price, they can't be that naive.

There is a world of difference between a player being told "we won't let you go for less than £xm" and being told "we need the money, and we'll take £xm next window"

My guess is Emi and his agent knew our financial situation, and that sales were likely this summer, and that he was one of our most saleable assets.  That doesn't mean he was promised a move, or demanded one, or even actively wanted one - just that it wouldn't have surprised him and his agent if one materialised.  As it happens, Ramsey leaving alleviated all the financial pressure, so we didn't need to sell him.

He's not said one single negative thing publicly, and will get nothing but support from me until he does.
