Emi Martínez on Instagram:

“Champions League football at Villa Park after 42 years. I’m proud to be part of this amazing team. For you Villa fans, hearing you sing my name throughout the season has been very emotional for me & my family. Thank you.”

Reads like another farewell, I'm afraid. :(

Yep, if that's not a sign he's off to ManU I don't know what is.

That's brilliant. I love the naughty little boy look he has in his eyes haha.

I've always had a problem with his ill discipline, it's just something he needs to cut out of his game.

It's not ill discipline, he's a young man, a joker, it makes him the personality he is. Emery is twice his age and is serious and professional about his job 99% of the time, last night was a celebration, a relief... in the end, and Emery as much as anyone would tolerate that behaviour from the World's number 1 keeper.... the remaining 1%.

Emery would see ill discipline as Emi coming up for a corner with minutes remaining in a game. Which he did and let Emi know in no uncertain terms.

Oh no! He's moving to to Spurs for a chance of silverware. :-(

Something on Instagram saying that he had an agreement to represent Argentina at the Olympics if we qualified for the Champions League. If correct he’ll play the Copa America then Olympics missing all pre season and potentially the first game of the season.

Good on him. I like that he wants to represent his country. And I like that our club facilitate him doing it. He's worth it.

If our playing nicely with Argentina keeps him happy at Villa, I'm all for it.

Yup. He'd only played 70 matches in his career when he joined us, most of them for the likes of Wolves and Reading.

I don't blame him if he wants to grab every last opportunity to play in big, fun matches and win as much as possible. He's really making up for lost time.

And I'm very glad we're letting him.

And, if he's not tough enough as it is, spending 4 weeks in France will make him keen to get back to where he's loved.

Aston Villa duo Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins have been included in Opta's Premier League team of the season.

The pair helped Unai Emery's side finish fourth in the table and qualify for next season's Champions League.

Martinez

Based on Opta's expected goals on target conceded model, which takes into account the quality of attempts on target faced, Martinez prevented 8.8 goals in the league this season, the second-highest tally of any goalkeeper in the competition.
