Barcelona is even bigger than that isn't it? Their wage bill is miles above the league imposed wage cap based on their finances so even if they took on debts to buy him they wouldn't be able to register hm without some huge changes in their finances. Real have a similar problem which is probably the biggest reason why mbappe never moved.

On Martinez I know he's only been here a season but I feel more confident in him than any other keeper I've seen for us, he has the perfect mix of attitude, ability and personality to be a world class goalkeeper and things like saturday are just a reflection of that.

I agree.

Cant see Emi going anywhere in the short to medium term. Top 4 have all got pretty good keepers themselves, and cant see him leaving the PL as other leagues are skint. PSG have just bought the 22 year old Donnarumma to stick with the other 100 keepers they have got. Emis going nowhere. (Although I did say that about the manc bloke as well)

Medium-term is probably as far as we can look with any of our better players.  If we're not challenging for European places by next season, then there are a few I think who might be tempted to look elsewhere. Right now, we're on an upward trajectory, and while that continues, players will be happy.  Getting European football THIS season, however unlikely it seems right now, would be brilliant and that would be the time to lock him down to a longer-term contract.

Yeah, the sooner we're playing in Europe the better for me. We need as few reasons as possible for our best players to look elsewhere.

Agreed, we might even take as many as Small Heath did to Bruges.

Don't be silly, we don't have that many fans.

Paraguay and Argentina are off the red list as of Monday so he won't need to quarantine.  Good job the Peru match is at home as they're still on the red list...

Wouldn't rule out Newcastle having a sniff now they've been taken over.
