When was the last time we had two genuinely good keepers competing for the shirt?

Bosnich/Spink??

Guzan / Friedel, back in the days when Guzan was good.

Good call.

Mail saying Heaton shocked we are after a new number 1. He's 35 soon, and just had a cruciate injury, we would be mad not to cover that.

It could be a bit of Mail shit stirring. They're not that positive when it comes to us.

Definitely. their other Villa related story is Dion's opinion that Grealish will leave.

I think it will be a good move signing him we have two or three good keepers wanting that number one spot.

That young keeper going to Wolves makes more sense now, we probably couldn't guarantee him gloves.

Wolves have put him out on a season long loan at Shrewsbury.

If Heaton thinks it's bad, how about Steer? Steer won't even be our cup goalkeeper. I was really impressed with him in the second half of our promotion season.

I think Jed deserved a chance. But Dean and those that work with keepers must think we need an upgrade.

Good signing if it comes off - it's an upgrade on what we have - that's what we need to do this season.

Does anyone think that Heaton's injury is such that he may not regain 100% full fitness and the club know this and are acting accordingly which is the responsible thing to do?

Steer, love him for what he did. But like Johnstone before him, I don't think he's quite good enough for the top division. Twelve months ago I might have thought he maybe was, but having seen in the flesh how the PL game upped itself in our relatively brief absence, he's not quite there.
