We had a decent chance there to nick it towards the death, too, yet still managed to do that old Villa thing of having to cross some fingers in the last couple of minutes.

Much like happened with the men's team of last season, staying up could lead to some rapid development next, with hopefully more signings of the ilk of Iwabuchi.

The current coaching set up, including Davies, remain in their positions. Can hardly be seen as a vote of confidence.

Anyway, Bristol City's game against Chelsea was postponed due to snow. So Chelsea will be nice and rested when they play us. 😒

Cheslea are the best team in the league for me. Different level. I write that game off. As zero points. Would hope for a good performance and not as heavy a defeat as 7-0 but most of our players don't compare

Marcus Bignot is our new women's football ,interim manager until the end of the season.
Hes currently joint-manager of National League North men's side Guiseley, will also share his duties with his FA role as an England Under-19 men's coach.
Ex-QPR defender Bignot was formerly head coach of Birmingham City Ladies.

Great name, looks a bit more intimidating than Gemma. He's married to Emma Byrne who played for Arsenal ladies for 16 years and the ROI ladies team a record 134 times so he has plenty of experience when it comes to woman footballers.

Well done for suggesting that buying good players would be a clever thing to do Footy. Let's hope the men's team cotton on to thinking like that as well.

If Chelsea are the best team in the league then they must be one hell of a team I have watched Man City score 7 two weeks running and if they had not eased up could have had double figures in both games  Heaven help us against Chelsea

Chelsea scored nine against our relegation rivals Bristol City (who just knocked us out of the League Cup). It could be a long night.

I managed to see the highlights of the game v Reading. The first time I’ve seen this Villa ladies team in action. It’s a good job we are not as immersed in them as their male counterparts as I think the match thread would have seen the site shut down by half time.

Lucky I am not emersed in the women's game.  You can see what they are trying to do but cant carry it out for whatever reason.  Have said it before the main things I notice are taking the ball high virtually doesnt exist, goalkeepers apart from shot stopping are poor, crossing hit and miss (thats true all the way up in the men's game mind) , never see players burst through wide and build ups far too slow.

Sure it will develop and get better over time.

Lost four-nil. Not as bad as I was expecting tbh. Arsenal next. That is also likely to be brutal. Bristol City have a winnable game against Brighton which could set up and unpleasant run-in.

Another heavy defeat although not as bad as i feared. We sure do not help ourselves though do we .Yet another game we concede within the first five minutes and the game is as good as over

Today's game against Arsenal postponed due to waterlogged pitch. Worryingly, Bristol City now only two points adrift after they gained their first win yesterday. Though at least it means Brighton are still in the mix, too.
