Perspective: villa beaten by the better side and better players.
We hadn't played competitively since February and had to take a step up in levels as well as 5 new players in the side.

First half in patches some very good football. I like Arthur she's decent as were the touches by Silva .
Staggering poor goals to concede as was the officiating with an unfairly disallowed goal just before half time for Larsen
Felt we didn't play to her strengths ,especially 1st half and would have had a couple of changes to Davies starting line up to support her as main striker.

Of course the Captain by gk Rodgers with Haigh dummy for goal was a complete gift shocking at any level of football.
Villa were doing ok before that . Neat football no major cutting edge though as had some chances .
There was a weakness to defend Chloe Kelly attacking forrays (she's a quality player and that made full back  Franklin-Fraiture struggle quite a bit.)
Centre backs N'Dow at was committed and looked far more comfortable than Haigh in possession and at this level but that's just the first match and Haigh hopefully becomes more steady

Villa women wanted to play football which is always good to see at any level. Though unfortunately Rodgers playing out from the back was a poor decision in passing as was the back pass and that led to such another gift for goal number 2 . In honest Man City were wasteful with some more chances but Villa held in and should have had it 2-1 half time.

Those mistakes will happen and did.
But the most encouraging things were seen second half and performance. All be it at times I felt Man City coasted for a while , Villa women came out the better team from kick off and were much better in general second half. The new signings Silva should have scored and Larsen had one off the line.
It was also great for Rodgers to totally redeem herself 2nd half with a string of good saves.
Man City did have a couple rightly ruled out for offside but as I say we won't play as high quality a team and was probably best time to play them!

Villa women will play on the smaller pitch of Bescott Stadium from October . Next home match will be Everton on the 4th.

Reading away next Sunday another tough match on a big pitch.

Work in progress with plenty of positive signs. A good resistance not to shed a load of goals second half as Villa women kinda kept in it and weren't totally outclassed in the 90

The 2 mistakes what ultimately cost Villa from gaining any points. Disappointing in that respect but didn't expect to win this one!

Up the Villa and thanks for the sticky !

1-0 down but there's not much between the teams. I think this will be a season much like the men had last year where the squad grows together and we have to put up with some mistakes and some poor performances.

Its all a bit difficult  3-0 half time.
Penalty scored by Farrah Williams on half time (another we could have brought in window)
Villa women could do with some more established players.
Frustrating but let's just keep going

Not looking forward to when play Arsenal and Chelsea though.

Interview with Gemma Davies:

Of course good luck and much support but for me she's not up to standard to coach a Premier level team.
She's the youngest coach and is mad villa but the team and sqqud need an experienced and elite level manager to help them survive.
Or at least some decent support coaches because there has been naive play all round and feel Villa are being sentiments and loyal.

Its unfortunate realism to suggest that a better manager will help us push on

I thought we signed the player from Vitesse Arnhem for the Academy not the Ladies team.
