I’ve just noticed he only has one year left on his deal at Forest so the fee is rather steep.

I think he'd signed a new contract until 2024.

Guilbert - lest people forget - came from a relegated Ligue1 side; his learning curve has been pretty steep, and we will see a much better version next season. Which means Cash might well be playing in front of him (or, they interchange on the right side).

As much as I like Guilbert, as a bloke and (on his day) a player, I am starting to wonder if he's a highlights player.

I don't really think that's a fair thing to say.  He had games where he looked very good, and then like everybody else in the squad, he had games where he was poor.  I think once the centre backs and the keeper situation was less disasterous, the whole tam looked better, including the full backs.

It probably is harsh, I hope it isn't true.

He's had some great games (Arsenal etc.) I guess when I've watched some of his games back I've found myself wondering if the stand out bits of his games (speed overlapping, last ditch tackling, tenacity) cover up for the fact he's not a great attacking fullback or a good defender.

It's bit conspicuous that he didn't get a run all season, just wondering how Smith sees things.

The indications from Forest are Cash has a lot of the same flaws defensively . Dont get this signing at all and fear with links with Wilson and Romero that there is a lack of a cohesive strategy at play yet again here. Are we honestly going starting the season with Targett and Taylor as our left back options again??

Don’t see us paying 14 mill for a full back not to play him as first choice. I like Guilbert too, but think the intention will be for him to be back up to cash unless Smith doesn’t fancy him.
As far fetched as it sounds there may actually be something in Smith and Suso signings. Konsa, Mings, Targett clearly Smith signings and seemingly areas of the team we’re not looking at strengthening.
Guilbert, Nakamba, Trez, Wes, all Suso signings and all the areas of the pitch we are looking at buying ‘upgrades’
Maybe Smith is trying to get his own men in.

He is most definitely up to it. It is up to Smith if he is needed or not.

He's one that be ousted. Doesn't fit. Form tailed off.
Well played for his efforts but feel Cash fits Smith's profile far more than the Suso driven signing of Gilbert.
Think he'll be moving to be honest.
Elmo will never leave !

Guilbert's form tailed off? Seriously?

Prove that Suso signed Guilbert.

Justify it.

I agree that Elmo is ace but his time might be up for us.
