A  really  good performance from the Villa Youth tonight They totally outclassed a side who had won their last six matches  and i think its fair to say it could have been five or six .We really do have some outstanding youth players and this team should not be afraid of anyone .I was impressed to see that Smith,Terry ,Shaky and Cutler were there watching  and also Purslow

Agreed. Bags of potential in this team, excellent performance tonight.

It struck me that the players that stood out the most are in areas where we are a bit light in the first team. Bogarde looked a solid right footed CB, confident on the ball and able to bring it out from the back. Both full backs full of energy and a threat going forward. Creativity in midfield from Ramsey and Chukwuemeka. Barry with that 'x factor' on the wing or central.

We've got to be careful not to block their pathway into the first team if we think they have the potential and ability but not quite where we need to be in their development. We might have to loan some players in for a season if we think they need another year. Or if we integrate them into the squad, we can't just have them sitting on the bench when they could be getting experience somewhere.
Agree totally about having a clear pathway to the first team squad. The central midfield of Chukwuemeka and Aaron Ramsey could certainly handle League One football next year and the other midfielder,Raikhy,I think would thrive in it as he is physically stronger,an absolute animal who loves a tackle and plays it simple.

Given our lack of creativity without Jack, I would love to see young Barry get a run as sub in some of the remaining games. Rather him than Keinan.

Just watched the highlights of the youth cup game on the OS and Aaron Ramsey is the one that really stood out for me.

Ramsey, Chukwumeka and Raikhy were great in the midfield. Ramsey is great to watch when he's on the ball.

Mostly good defending as well -the 'keeper was quiet all night.

Up front, we also have good players but they were a little disappointing tonight.

Same for me. I know it’s harder to gauge with just TV highlights, but he seemed to be involved in absolutely everything that was happening going forward.

That was a great ten minute watch, the highlights of the Youth Cup game. Chuck W has the physique of a Premier League midfielder who you don't mess with. And Ramsey Jr (or more accurately Ramsey Middle Brother) looks like he has the knack for danger in the final third.

I Iiked how after the goals almost every team-mate joined in with the celebration. Seems like a tight-knit group.

I agree in Cukwuemeka, I'd like to see him get some gametime before the summer, same as Kesler and Philogene-Bidace, I think they all look physically ready for it.

England U18 playing away to Wales right now -

Ramsey and Barry played in the first half and England made 10 cvhanges at half time and now Chukwuemeka is on and has been the best play in the pitch in this 25ish minutes. The way he's playing here reminds me of Luiz for us as a deep playmaker.

i didn't see the first half so no idea how the other 2 played.

1-0 - Lovely first goal from Kessler on the counter from a corner against the dogheads.

Keep us updated...I’d love to watch this one. Is there a match pass option?

£1.99 on Villa TV. All proceeds go to the Foundation. Wesley playing the first half looks very tidy so far.
