Has Sarkic gone? - surprised by that.

RHM is the big disappointment for me.  He looked the real deal a while back.

See also Moore S and even more so Moore L. Just goes to show some are cut out for it and others aren't.

I can't think of many if any players we've let go in this way that have gone on to better things.

I agree Drummond.  What grieves me is that we have players that look like world beaters but we allow them to simply become asset write offs.  If you have a horse and you see the signs of it not training on you sell it.  You don't  let everybody else know what you know. Villa always seems to be full of get-rid negotiators.

Baston was in the squad on Wed - we will never know if any good

Chester - good servant but time to go

Green - Has all the physical attributes but not the application or desire - never going to make it at even Championship level

Doyle Hayes - thought he was well thought of - but obviously not enough for this level - shame but that is football

O'Hare & RHM - really surprised especially if we go down they could have been 2 home grown players to have led the journey back once all the big time Charlies had fecked off.

Seems that we don't have any promising youngsters to come through other than Vassilev and Archer

Jacob Ramsey looking good. We've for once put him out on loan really early and he started really well at Doncaster so that's very promising for me as league one has plenty of good teams in it.

Think we'll also see Louie Barry play a few cup games next season and take things from there.

No surprise on any of the releases. If Hepburn Murphy still had a chance of making it here we'd have sent him to Derby's first team for a long spell, not their under 23s.

Sad about O'Hare and the Russian. Held out hopes for them to come good with us.
Also, I wonder if Chester could still be doing a job for us now.

We will obviously never know how much, if any, difference it would have made but they really should have been out on loan much earlier. Wasted too many years in the Under 23s/on the fringes of the first team squad.

It may be that the player himself doesn't want to come back and play reserve football and wait for a chance, when he will have interest given his performances and the fact he's on a free.

It makes sense for him to move on now. He's a key player at Coventry who are likely to be in the same division as us next season. So he'll probably play 30-40 games for them next season whereas here they'd still be doubt if he'd even start games even in the championship. Just keeping him to start him in league cup games won't kick him on as a player.

We've new people in charge of the academy now haven't we? I'd suspect they're of the opinion we need newer, fresher blood and the signing of someone like Barry suggests we're heading the right way.

I'm surprised about O'Hare from what I've read about him, but not so much the rest.

Good luck to them though, especially Chester who was a good leader for us. I guess he really must be shot. Perhaps he'll become part of the coaching team.

He's started pretty much every game for Stoke since he went there so guess they want to sign him full time. I agree a good servant. Shame his knee went last year as him and Mings could've been a nice combination (given how well he played with Terry the previous year) and would've saved us spending endless money on CBs last summer.

Have we been paying McCormack for this season?

There was a settlement after we got promoted so he probably got a fair chunk of the last year of his contract, which no doubt included a promotion bonus.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that McCormack did get a promotion bonus as part of his contract. I am a little surprised we let Hepburn-Murphy go. O'Hare looked good in the pre season games I saw him play in the summer before our promotion campaign but he clearly didn't kick on from there.

Best wishes to all of them, in particular Chester. Helped turn us around from laughing stock that always lost to a team looking upwards again. Played while injured for the cause, too.

Also Green, always gave his all and it is entirely possible that we would never have been promoted had it not been for the mad run we went on after his equaliser against Sheffield United.

Obviously, usual caveats apply. I will struggle to wish any of them luck if they end up somewhere horrible.

I think the one we'll regret most is O'Hare.  It will be interesting to see how he does next season in the Championship.  He may turn out to be shit, by my guess is he'll be the next one we talkabout as 'the one that got away.'

I had high hopes for Green a couple of years ago, but he couldn't stay fit and get a consistent run.  I do wonder if he'd had as much opporunity as Trez whether he may have shown something for us.

Agree about both COH and Green, particularly if we are once again back in the Championship.

I see so much of Luke Moore's story in Andre Green. Such a talented player in there somewhere but nobody has found a way to coax it out of them and have them really believing in themselves. Luke Moore did at least have an outstanding 6 months or so in the Premier League sadly Green has managed even less.

We discussed Andre at some length.  Many of us suspect that he really wanted to be a central striker not a wide player.  Always wanting to get goal side of a wide defender made him very easy for defenders to read.  If he is to make the grade to his full potential he needs to be played as an out and out striker.  IMO.

I loved him for his equaliser in the 3-3 vs Sheffield United last season. You could clearly see it meant so much to him.
