We always do so well in our "must win games" ……… struggle to keep clean sheets and cant score... what on earth could go wrong? :)

Referee: Chris Kavanagh
VAR: Peter Bankes.

Villa to win 2-0 by penalty and free kick.

McGinn and Davis to score !

I don't see Davis taking either a penalty or a free-kick I'm afraid VIA, so sorry, I can't buy into you match prediction.

2-0 to the jawdies.

Brucey 2-0 Deano

Tactically outfought, with Brucey setting traps all over St James' Park.
The fast headband-clad fella on the wing with one of the goals, and Newcastle's version of our very own misfiring Brazilian with the other.

Sorry buddy... but decades of supporting this once proud institution has made me extremely cynical - knowing the Villa they will beat Liverpool and then lose to Palace :(

I think we'll win. I'm not sure how but I can see us doing them.

Same here! Could be a good thing or just prolonging the agony.

Sadly don't think we have a chance.

They were by far the better side against Sheffield yesterday for the whole game, even before Egan was sent off.

Can't stand the Geordies but they've grown a lot as a team since we beat them. Saint-Maximin is some player.

The only feasible option we can have now, because Smith has absolutely no tactical acumen, is to go to a long standed, tried and trusted, default setting, 4-4-fucking-2 formation. Two banks of four. Play 2 from Grealish, Samatta and Davis up top with one floating to make it a 1-1 up top. If you play Davis and Samatta, then Grealish plays left mid. His heads gone a little and he seems to have absolutely no trust in his teammates (when you see him coming all the way back to the defence to pick the ball up, it says it all about what he thinks of his sides ability to pass the ball through to him in the final third).

We're gonna lose against Newcastle, because their manager will win the tactical battle. And there-in lies our problem. Then we go into a horrid run of fixtures.

Drop McGinn. He needs a game off. We're in danger of pushing him too much and losing him for the remainder. Week off for McGinn. Marvelous and Douglas in CM. If there is a decent kid in reserves somewhere playing right mid, I'd play them because it's morbidly depressing having to watch El Ghazi and Trezequet. Or give the spot to Vassilev. There's no way he can do worse than those two.

I agree supertom, I would play Grealish off the striker and Go 4 4 2
Not sure who the 4 midfield players would be.
I bet it will be 4 3 3 again though.

When I was looking at the fixtures just before it all started back up, I thought this might be the one of the games where we pick up three points. Just a sneaky feeling more than anything.

We’re going to have to be a hell of a lot better than we were yesterday.

There’s a simple, if obvious point. Jack Grealish is our best player and we need to give him as much of the ball as possible, and have him as involved as possible. That means he needs to play centrally. Smith has to change this.

I reckon we'll start well, miss some good opportunities, and then go on to lose 2-0.
