But that's not what you said. You said we had had done 'shit all' when in reality we did. You also didn't mention Samatta.
So of the players we bought in Jan there's Samatta (currently not in the starting XI), Drinky (nowhere near the first team), Reina (currently not in the first team), and Baston (benchwarmer).

And Barry. It's unfair to lump in Reina as he was a stop-gap when we had no cover, and Baston was a bit of cover, but not starting Samatta is strange.

True, I forgot about Barry although he's one for the future.

Imagine being Samatta, sat on the bench whilst 2 goals in 49 Davis starts.  If I didn't know better, I'd think Smith is trying to send a message to the board about Suso...

With the increased number of subs, I'd like to see the youngster on the bench.  Hard to see him being less use than the likes of Trezeguet.

That's a good call actually.  Assuming he's fit, what harm can it do?

I'd throw him in now, or at least have him on the bench.

Reina was thrown straight in though at the expense of Nyland so i'm not sure he was the stop gap he should have been. Baston was definatley bought in for cover. I thought playing Davis against Sheffield United was a good move as they wouldn't have been expecting it and he did ok but yes, It'll be strange if he keeps leaving Samatta on the bench.

Imagine having to read that.
Because knowing better you know Dean Smith plays one striker.
Deano isn't got to try and make power statements and points while sacrifice players for the good of the team and potential in winning a match !

Unbelievable what I read on here sometimes!

What's wrong with what Des said? Seems a perfectly normal thing to ponder.

All about opinions.  I'm just intrigued why Deano would choose Davis over Samatta, given their respective records.  Apologies if you were upset by my perfectly normal question...

I'd go for Archer but he is well off the radar at the moment.

You have been keen for Smith to go at a few points this season, as have I, but if the squad is just not good enough, do you think it would have made enough difference?

I suppose it's impossible to say without knowing who'd have come in, but a better January in the transfer window would have helped, and an extra 3 or 4 points now and we'd be out of the bottom three at least.  I can't see that that would have been impossible given a bit of organisation and motivation, neither of which we get from Smith.

January was fucking shit, it was basically a repeat of the Lambert/Grant Holt fiasco. We sent out a message to everyone, us included, that we were there for the taking, lost two key players for the season and did shit all to correct it.

You can't really say that when we bought two strikers in and a goalkeeper.

You can when you see who we bought in. Two players semi-retired and a third that couldn't get a game in the division below.

But that's not what you said. You said we had had done 'shit all' when in reality we did. You also didn't mention Samatta.

To be fair, I'd completely forgotten about him, which says much about the impact he's had.

If he is, could he at least pick a time when we aren't fighting for our premier league lives?

That kind of message usually receives a reply with an attachment titled 'P45'

I still think Trezeguet has something to offer and i'd probably  give him a game or two now over El Ghazi.

For what it was worth, I thought Trez was far more effective than El Ghazi yesterday. Bit like tallest dwarf, but y'know...

I thought Samatta did okay too. Rudiger only had to wrap his leg around Davis and that was our attack over. If Samatta had been on at the same time it might not have been such a walk in the park for him.
