Surprised that Dean waxed lyrical about Southampton's home-form and that we'd be looking to take advantage of that. Isn't that what leads to the cliché opponents riposte post-game of "We pinned-up those quotes in the dressing room which gave us extra motivation to win" ?!

I agree bit stupid by smith tbh. Saying things like this hardly ever happens when you talk about it like he did.

The biggest decision for me is if he sticks with three at the back? I think its not working and we need to go back to four at the back with a extra cm. Stick nakamba in front of the back four and have luiz and conor just ahead of him

Redmond is a big miss for them, he's created as many chances for them as Jack has for us this season (though they haven't scored as many of them as we have of Jack's).

agree , this is good news .. Just need Long to pick up a niggle :)

If he'd said "It's a tough place to go, we'll have to be at our very best to get anything from the game" there would be people criticising him for being defeatist.

Each game is becoming more must win.
After last week's defensive debacle I'm sure we'll be the wrong side of a five goal thriller.

Or he could have just not said either? Just say we know st marys is a tough place to go but we untend to go there give them a game and make ot difficult for them.

Whatever he says he would be criticised for and does anyone really think that Premier League players need to be motivated by what the opposition manager does?

Think Ings will score twice in the first half and we will pull back 2 in the second. Miss a sitter to win it and come back with a point lamenting what could have been.

One week to go for our Cup Final so probably not a gung ho performance.

Nice exaggeration. Of course players don't intend to play poorly but I can't have imagined post-match interviews in the past when a player/manager says they wanted to ram the words of the opposition down their throats etc. It's marginal gains at this level and finding new ways to motivate players is always welcomed by management. I'm not saying it will make a difference, just that it comes across as a tad naive from your cousin to talk about it the way he did.

Tough one to predict.

Southampton did a great job on us at VP. Hard to believe that was just two months ago and they were below us then.

However their style simply dosen't work as well at St Marys. Just 3 home wins  all season isn't it and they rarely score more than one goal at home.

Feels like I predict a draw every week currently and in rare fashion we're not doing it much this season. Worried about Ings being the difference like Son last week as he's been in great form most of the season but can see us getting chances on the break.

2-2 which in the short term is o.k for me given Watford are away to Man. United and West Ham away to Liverpool so I'd be very disappointed if we drop into the bottom 3 this weekend.

Ah yes, but what about all those games we don't hear about? The manager has cut out newspaper quotes and pinned them on the changing room wall (has this ever really happened?) only for his team to totally fail to ram the words of the opposition manager down his throat. They trudge off the pitch having lost 4-0 and pretty much confirmed the opposition manager pre-match hunch to be true. We don't hear about them. The kit-man silently takes down the cuttings and there is an unspoken but understood agreement among everyone in the changing room to never speak of this again...

We need to see all of the available data on this. % of wins when the manager has pinned newspaper cuttings up versus % when he hasn't. Then we can talk.
