I always thought Tyson was at his peak that night. Spinks was arguably the linear champion yet he was terrified as he entered the ring. I don't think there's ever been a boxer in my lifetime who destroyed all comers as convincingly as Tyson did.

There is so much that Tyson lost after that night, it's hard to believe he was the same guy who lived off his name from the mid-90s onwards. Comparing his humility and shyness in those days to the angry mess he became, it's clear he changed massively as a man as well as a fighter.

He got rid of Kevin Rooney.

What possessed him to make that decision Dave?

Don King, probably.

Meanwhile, Hamzah Sheeraz looks a good prospect at light-middle.

So it's going to be Roy Jones Jr who Tyson fights.  I hope Iron Mike has lost most of his power because Jones looked more than done in his last few bouts, it was sad to see.  That said, I don't remember Tyson's last fights so possibly the same could be said of him.

They are too old to slug it out. This will end very badly.

Roy Jones Jr is my favourite boxer ever, the only one who actually made me laugh out loud because he was so much better than even his "toughest" opponents when he was in his prime. I just hope he doesn't get seriously hurt because he was never a natural heavy and the lightning-quick reflexes have long gone. Tyson might be busted too, but Foreman showed in his comeback that power is the last thing to go.

Foreman retired at 28 when he was in pretty good shape and came back ten years later. Tyson's 54, been out of boxing for fifteen years and has been shot to bits for the best part of a decade before that.
