If we can somehow win the next two before the final, then we’ll stay up anyway. If we lose the next two a demoralising defeat will kill us and take a massive recovery to survive.

An interesting few games then. Three wins on the bounce: Heaven and we’ll get maybe 45 points with the momentum. Three defeats and I personally think we’ll be dead, we won’t recover and neither will the fanbase especially the online one.

I want the trophy regardless. I’m old school in that way.

Does anyone know what the total sales figures are?

The general consensus is 30,000 - 12,000 last week and 18000 last night.

There's about 3,000 left.

There is about 1,500 left someone has counted them and put it on that AVFC Support twatter feed

I counted earlier too - there are just under 1500 left. This isn’t going past the first set of claret members as far as I can see.
Does this mean we have more than 30000 ST holders?

No about 1,600 have gone to Staff, Sponsors, Hospitality, Players, Club Partners according to that AVFC Twatter Feed

When I posted, there were around 3,000 left so either another 1,500 ST holders bought after my post or someone has had another 1,500 away.  All sorts goes on with these ticket distributions and nothing surprises me.  The club, sponsors, players etc would have had first dibs - They wouldn't have been left to feed on the scraps after 30,000 ST holders had been sorted.

Staying up. What’s the point of winning it then be europa in  a gruelling championship season. It would be a disaster for us and kill any hopes of us of promotion.

If the choice is one it’s staying up simple as that. Keeping players like mcginn mings and hopefully grealish is much for vital to us than a cup

According to Man City’s forum, their sales window has already reached the lowest priority and they have nearly 9000 left! There’s even talk of season ticket holders being able to purchase and extra 2 tickets?!

They really dont care about this cup. It would be a travesty them winning it really because they dont even care.

Just 2 posts after you said that you would much rather stay up than win the League Cup. Which is fair enough, but why criticise them for not treating this as a priority.

If anyone doesn't want to go to Wembley, I've got a 13 year old who's desperate to see some glory but hasn't got a ticket yet.

It's absolutely not. It is a fantastic platform for preparing a club to compete in Europe. It stress tests all aspects of club operations and builds up squad strength and mental resilience. Best way to prepare for competing in Champions League.

I can't get why anyone wouldn't enjoy European football. We have played Man United, Newcastle and Sheffield United about a million times each. We very rarely get to play exotic teams from mad countries. And there's still the possibility of getting a genuine European giant like Inter or Ajax again.

I can't really understand why people prefer playing the same old teams over and over again to the excitement of European football. Okay, having loads of matches moved to Sunday is a bit of a pain, but worth it, imo.

Still, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have to beat Man City first 🤣. Unlike before our last cup final, I haven't allowed myself to consult Wikipedia and check when our hypothetical European run might start, as it is bad luck I reckon.

As an aside, any H&V meteorologists know if this storm bollocks is going to have fucked off by the 1st March? Don't fancy 30,000 of us getting replacement buses all the way to That London.

Respectfully disagree.

I would love European nights back at Villa Park.

The Inter Milan games are some of my best VP memories.

Man City fans may not be that bothered about the League Cup because they are consistently challenging for honours. I'd like to be in the position where I care about the League Cup a little less, it will mean we've won something else.

Our long-term future appears to be safe, relegation, whilst not ideal would merely be a blip given the commitment the owners are showing. A cup win is a permanent record of success.
