bit disappointed if true. I think given a full season to adjust he could have been a 10-15 goal a season striker for us and i'm surprised Smith has that little faith in his own judgement really*

*not really.

I hope it is a genuine account.  Samatta lacks what it takes for the Premier Division, not quick enough, not powerful enough, not good enough movement.  It also means that we have another striker coming in as we wouldn't be so stupid as to repeat last season, would we?  Josh King?

A shame in a way. A lot was made, by him and the club, of how he was the first Tanzanian to play in the Prem. He would have worn that badge proudly so I'm a little surprised that he's "given up" so quickly. But if Dean was honest with him about his chances, maybe Samatta had little choice (apart from doing a Lansbury and train for pay I guess).

I think he’s been a bit of a victim of circumstance. Parachuted in late in January to a poor performing side not scoring goals, scarcely found his bearings and into lockdown for months, presumably without knowing many folks in his new surroundings. He undoubtedly didn’t look up to scratch when football restated but I thought we might persist with him.

We surely, surely have to have another striker coming in to replace him.

He’s not going anywhere according to his dad. No offers from anyone.

That seems genuine ?

I detest twatter too.
I tend to follow #avfc for the transfer gossip and bullshit during the transfer windows and then close my account when the window shuts.

That’s pretty much the story I found yesterday except someone had translated it.

What ever offer is received I hope he stays, nice bloke and that is what the football club needs

Dont forget that goal he scored in cup final - class finish

Hopefully he will still be here in 3 years time

He's a nice young man, he's a lovely smile
Give him a ball and a yard of grass
He'll give you a move with a perfect pass
Give him a ball and a yard of space
He'll give you a move with goodly grace

Good business to get rid of him so soon and by getting money for him.

I agree, no point him sitting around drawing wages and losing value.

Agreed as well, good to see the club realising it hasn't worked and moving quickly to sort it out.
