You're a bit obsessed with those twats. The Southampton and Norwich results are much more important to us.

Three enormous points. Can’t keep letting teams have 20 attempts on goal though.

Great stuff Villa, just shows how much we've missed Tyrone, hope Wes is ok.

Won it in the 1st half as for all their huff and puff Burnley didn’t massively threaten. Those of us that wanted a change in formation obviously know a bit too.
Wes has a good game as did Jack but what a difference to have Mings back. UTV.

Credit where it's due, Dean identified (okay, slower than he should) that we were struggling to defend in the 4-3-3 system. A 3rd CH just allowed someone to plug gaps that would previously have been left.
Good first half. We disappointingly retreated in the second, inviting pressure.
Mings was a welcome return. I know he's had a few moments but at the same time, he's just one of those defenders that seems to be magnatised to the ball. Like that cross toward the end. Mings was in there like a flash to cut it out. Laursen-esque.
Hause also looks good. Konsa seems to benefit from the extra support.
Grealish was excellent. Wesley much improved.
Also I have to give Nyland a great deal of credit because given the fact it looked like he'd never play for us again, he's come on in very difficult circumstances in a couple of games and done very well and looked as composed as you'd expect an international keeper of a reasonable side to look. Excellent take at the end. It's unfortunate for Steer, but Nyland is well worth keeping his spot on the bench now.
To me that does show hope. It means, almost by force too that we're probably going to buy another striker. We need more competition. Kodjia just doesn't appear to fit in Deans way of playing, so lets sell him while we can, bring in a new main man. We need someone inspiring. We need a Bent kind of signing.
Smith has saved his job today I think. The next couple of league games we really need to keep progressing.
I'd also be inclined to send out the stiffs and youngsters in the Fulham game. Focus on the league and the league cup. A lot of the first teamers were exhausted in that second half. Very leggy. Players need a rest. I hate saying it as it's the FA Cup, but it's almost a game we could do without.

The formation change AND Mings coming back helped with the win. However 2nd half showed already how easy it can be countered by Dyche, so better managers and players who can convert chances will go right through us. If Smith had made obvious changes in the second half to counter them as well I would say he is learning.
Still at least the players were up for it as well. Mings influence in the dressing room maybe?

Well done Dean. Credit where it’s due.
Yep! I don't think he's the man for us but happy for him to shove my doubts down my big yap.

I have advocated Kodjia getting game time, over the last few weeks.
I won’t be doing that again.

Kodjia was so bad that last 20 mins and Houriane not much better , thank god Burnley was so toothless
Mings helped being back but also just having the extra cb there to tidy up was the big factor.I also think we played very simple % defending often getting it out for a throw rather than trying to play the ball out.
Wes was good and held ball up well as well as defending from corners well , Kodjia as I said was useless mostly when he came on.Didn't link play and the one half chance he had should of been a square ball to Luiz not a scruffed attempt on his weaker foot...
Finally fuck VAR

The critical thing for me was that we remain in contention by the time the transfer window came around. 6 wins by 1 January isn't bad - shame we didn't draw 2-3 games we should have at the start of the season.
If we can get in 3 good reinforcements now we have a great chance of picking up the 16-17 points we need?

Massive improvement. Mings being back seemed to make a huge difference. Onwards and upwards.

First! Happy new year - had 4 hours sleep after last night - partying in Brazil. What a great start to the new year. MOTM Nyland for that catch. (Joking).
What a player Jack is - he is fucking Barca material.

best display of season by a distance. real test of character at the end but deservedly held out. such a contrast in terms of attitude from the players, really up for the battle today. change of formation obviously helped, we didnt carry anyone without the ball and extra physicality with Hause helped.
Grealish was a joy to watch.
