Speaking of Rooney, he didn't seem 100% well.

It's never a good sign when someone's wearing a polo neck.

Only reason anyone wears a polo neck is to hide a vampire bite. Tallies with him being unwell as he's currently turning. And MOTD is filmed in the dark. Did anyone see any garlic or crucifixes in the studio, no. What more proof is needed?

I did notice that Shearer was particularly scathing about the ineffectiveness of Newcastle's crosses.

I've always thought he looked like a 'dead before 50' cert.

Hopefully not, as I have no particular issue with him, but even when he was a professional athlete, he didn't look healthy.

Went to bed early but yet to see it. When Rooney and Shearer are the go to pundits with Gabby Logan as facilitator you know it isn't great.

Agreed. Stick with the goalies.

No Sanshez hand balls shown on MOTD?  Were they a myth?

Even by Rooney standards the language and vocabulary was dreadful.

I would love to get a proper look at the one in the second half where it really looked like he carried the ball out of the area before launching it but it was completely ignored other the commentator saying it looked like he had carried it out of the box. The second one was just a slip and we got the free kick which was correct.

I'm just glad we're not away to Coventry on Boxing Day.

Are you thinking about that bar steward Quinn and 3-0 day?

Yup, seared in my memory, just like I remember where I was when Steve Bruce scored twice against Sheffield Weds.
Seared in mine too, was with a Cov supporter work colleague in the home end. Horrible horrible day.

Add me to that list. Despite living in Paris I managed to get 2 tickets in the main stand for me and brother in law. The locals were revelling in it and I recall it being freezing cold and foggy after a sunny start. I think it’s the last time I went there having grown up with us always winning there.

The first time I went there was the first time we lost there. I saw us lose a few times including this one and decided to stop going in 95 and we won 3-0. The only time I saw is won there was Stauntons late deflected rocket.

He was particularly bad last night, it seemed like he was struggling to find the appropriate words.

It’s a strange choice selecting Rooney. I’m sure there is no interview process, just a tick box saying did the play for
• Man Utd
• Liverpool
• Man City

Not the brightest, sentences don't come easily to him. I think you'll find Colleen does the family finances.

I wish she’d take over the football punditry.
