MOTD2 -

Newcastle on before us
Spurs on before us
Bournemouth too

Didn't mention us about midweek champions league either unlike arse and C115y

We are 4th in the table but they go out of their way to ignore us .
I prefer that we go under the radar.

I don't really know what any of this means.

Ha yeah. Nice words from Shay Given , Unai is an elite coach . Yep.

Thought it was Lineker who said that?

Shay stated it, Lineker agreed.

Fair enough.

Just checked on iplayer, because I thought you were right Rory. You were.

GL: “He’s elite coach, no question”.

SG: “Yeah”.

Thanks Perce!

Whoever said it was correct. Best manager in the world, and he's ours 🙂

Despite the praise, get the impression the media pundits do not consider us a serious contender for anything. A ship passing in the night!!

Last Saturday, Sutton on 606 mentioned our biggest downfall will be 'the lack of strength of depth in our squad'. Apart from Villa fans it went completely unnoticed as to how strong our bench was against Fulham, with Mings in the wings.

Yes, let's fly under the radar for as long as possible before world domination.  :)

Totally agree.
We know we've witnessed a truly remarkable transformation in the team over two years.

Again, what does 'under the radar' mean, in any meaningful way, for a football club currently playing in the Premier League and the Champions League?

It means 'unnoticed'.

95% of the praise is for Unai Emery. As if he is doing a magnificent job with a bunch of misfits!!!

The quality, strength and conviction of the squad is not getting the recognition it deserves.

Yes, I guess it means that a lot of pundits/fans still don't take us seriously, like we're just keeping a place in the top 4 warm for the likes of Chelsea/Man U/Spurs.

Well, we were first on ‘the rest of the weekend’s games’. Where MOTD or the Sunday version sees us in the whole scheme of things is immaterial so I no longer see it as a slight against us. ManU were shown last and not a mention about them.

To be fair, we behave like we're having a big day out, rather than it being expected. I think the reason is that we have been in the doldrums for years and never threatened to break into the top echelons. Emery has only been here 2 years so it's still all new. Qualify again for the Champions League, or win something, and we will start being viewed differently.

Having said all that, the coverage we got for the Bayern game was respectful of our status I thought.

Right, sure, but it's still unclear to me why it matters? The other teams we're playing against don't get their analysis from MOTD, so where's the practical benefit?

It doesn't matter, it's just an observation.

Maybe we should have a camouflaged kit.
