Turned into a really good session for the bears. 4 more wickets gone but 123 runs added and lead up to 210 which will be really hard to chase.

Then we go and lose Bresnan first ball after tea.

172/9  lead 219.

What i find pleasing is the fact we have bettered our first knock. I love these small total games, so enjoyable.

Me too, all the benefits of red ball cricket but with the white ball feeling that something will happen every over.

I think 224 is a huge lead in these conditions, and 5 tonight is a big ask but not impossible. However given the length of their tail I'd take 3 tonight in the knowledge that we'd be 1 wicket away from the lower order. Their selection of Bess as what has turned out to be a specialist batsman at 6 (given he never came close to getting a bowl) looks like a mistake.

My concern is that the sun has come out a bit for them right now.

That's a beauty of a delivery from Woakes to get Hill, that's why he's so dangerous in English conditions, gets the line right so often.

yorks 1/1

18/2 now a further 206 required.

Poor shot from Lyth there to give Bresnan a second slip catch off Miles in his first over.

Apparently forecast not too good for tomorrow.

Nope, supposed to be similar to today on weds though so should be plenty of time to finish the game. I reckon we'll lose overs tonight though, starting to look pretty gloomy.

Yorkshire 50/3 at close, still requiring 174. Norwell with Malan’s wicket with the last ball of the day

3 down, as above I'm well happy with that, 100% our day today and I'd put us well on top. Next session (whenever it turns out to be) we need to start really aggressively and not let them build a partnership with Ballance and Brook, break that quick and the scoreboard pressure will build. To be clear I like Bess as a player but he's an 8 or maybe a 7 at a stretch, an average in the low 20s just isn't good enough to be at 6 for a team needing runs from the middle/lower order.

What a start Gary Ballance ct in slips off Woakes, 3rd ball of the day
50/4
He was certainly the prospective 'main man'.

It was a very good start but we were starting to give them some cheap runs...

Which makes

Brook 9 b woakes ct Bresnan

really nice to type.

69/5 still loads to chase and not a huge amount of batting left.
