Pears were cruising at 140-0.....then the inevitable happened 240-7....Barnard & Joseph pulled it back a bit thankfully

Libby is looking a better signing by the game...think we might be a beneficiary of Notts being allergic to home developed players....no doubt this time tomorrow I’ll be berating a Joe Clarke century as Notts buying runs

Bears lost 2 already this morning, both openers gone.

Currently 35/2 with Hain on a duck and Vihari on 5

Siddle is bowling really well for Essex.

Cant we find a keeper who can bat a lot better than Burgess can as a number 6? Must be someone in the club we can push on.

I quite like Burgess when I've seen him before but he is woefully out of form right now.

Stone went a few balls later, Briggs in.

193/7
Briggs 6
Lamb 47

This has been one of those frustrating games where we keep starting partnerships and then losing a wicket just as they start to look settled. not managed a 50 partnership yet, which is why we're struggling.

Good solid stand by Briggs and Miles. Even the new ball didn't trouble them. Briggs is really good for a lower order batsman.

Brilliant effort from the lower order, Essex will be gutted to have got 8 down with a lead of over a hundred and ending up with just 11.

284/10
Briggs 66*
OHD 3

Essex go into their 2nd innings with opportunity to enhance their lead of 11. Not doing a great deal as Bears gaining the advantage as Essex lose 2 for 23.
