A good day for the Bears and a good day for Henry Brookes who took a career best 6-20 for Derbyshire against Leicestershire, a good start to his loan. He’s slipped down the pecking order at Edgbaston but he’s a serious talent.
In a way he seems to be mirroring Sam Hane’s development. Hane was the next best thing in red ball cricket and seemed destined for an England call up. He broke many of Ian Bell’s county records. Then he seemed to become a white ball specialist and his red ball cricket suffered and only now does Hane seem to have got his red ball form back. Brookes should consider this when lucrative white ball contracts are put in front of him by his Mr 10%
