Playing first and getting all three points, can enjoy the rest of the weekend now!

Under the cosh second half but Everton ran out of ideas. I thought Douglas's positioning off the ball was top drawer.

A balmy evening, Villa Park under lights, absolutely rocking atmosphere, great game, and 3 points in the bag against a team who apparently don't concede or lose very often. Absolutely brilliant evening.

Everton were fairly profligate with their chances and we rode our luck at times, but some great bodies-on-the-line defending, no small amount of skill in midfield, and two very well crafted goals saw us through. When they went 3 up top we started to sit deeper and deeper and on 80 minutes I said to my my mate it's only a matter of time before there's a goal. Fortunately it was for us in time added on. The noise in the Holte was just phenomenal. Happy days

Everton were genuinely awful

Absolute nonsense, Everton might have missed chances but they showed they are a good side, but Villa outfought them. Give us some credit!!!!

agreed, they were the better side for large chunks of the game and looked good going forward. If they had a decent number 9 the result could have been very different.

The young lad they had up front looked massively out of his depth.

Everton will do well this season

Better atmosphere than the play off final, if that’s even possible. Fucking brilliant.
I watched on the TV and can’t recall a better atmosphere.

I'm sure there was moment with two different chants at once, never heard that before.
I'm sure I heard the old 'Villa' clap clap clap for the first time in years too

You did! And, did anybody clock the "singing section" in A4? Arms aloft, belting it out. In the Upper Trinity. Unheard of. Marvellous!

What a night. What an atmosphere. That 'Allez Allez Allez' in the last five minutes at 1-0 was superb and got us over the line. We're back baby.

Wesley looked a player tonight.  Mina is strong but Wes out-muscled him with ease but also kept possession more often than not. I guess the only fear is that we may resort to that route one ball as an out, and I think we’ll need other options against different teams. With the quality of SJM, Jack and tonight Jota a nippy skilful centre forward could have a field day against weaker teams - do wish we had the Maupay option too

Fred looked a threat and Engels again looked so composed. Loved it when he celebrated that block in the first half. Also Heaton’s chat from goal seems to be helping the back 4, and no dodgy AWOLs from him tonight.

Crowd were great tonight, wish I was there.

I was disappointed with how long it took the referee to sort out their standing on our quick free kicks. Maybe 3 or 4 times before he got a card out. Maybe we need to be a bit wiser, stop trying to push them away and just take the free kick.

Cracking result and a sensational atmosphere. Wesley looks the real deal as well. Can’t wait for next week now!
