Very mature first half. Wes and AEG need to stay on their feet. They are not convincing thre ref.

Spurs could have scored a couple of times but they overplayed it. Happy for them to keep doing that all season long.

1-0 up at half time...that'll do. Keep it up Villa!

brave performance so far
Trez has been pacey and has a bit of trickery
el ghazy and grealish has to step it up
Wesley its tough being the lone forward. he is mobile though for a big unit and working hard.

Engels looks class
Taylor and Elmo steady and dogged

Wesley clearly must be used to getting soft free-kicks in Europe, but I imagine that's a pretty short learning curve.  Trez clearly doesn't like shooting on his left foot (shame!), but I've been impressed with the new boys apart from that.

Yes, the champions league finalists are dominating possession at home, but I think that's to be expected - but we've done more than OK, scored a great goal, and look dangerous on the break.  I'd like to see us defend 10 yards further up the pitch, but I'm sure that's just a factor of being under a lot of pressure.

Clean sheet please!!

EVERYTHING about this league is stronger, faster and fitter than the championship.
This is a huge step up in class.

Pretty impressed with that from NRC there, he's spot on, Wesley did a great job of stopping the centre half from getting back as cover, which created the chance for the goal.

Engels was the best player on the pitch for me, exceptional debut so far.

To think realistically over time Targett will replace Taylor, Guilbert will replace Elmo, Doug replaces Conor, with the opportunity to mix in Jota and Marvellous. It’s a positive thought however this ends up.

True, but we have had the best scoring chances.
Engels looks class.

After 45 minutes the minnows need two if they are to make their dreams of a giant-killing come true.

Yes, and yet Conor and Taylor have had a decent first half.
