A lot of learning went on in that half, I reckon. I hope Wesley did some.

Wes not impressing so far. He's up front on his own but looks very sulky.

I think Sanchez went through the back of him early on but he didn't get the decision and he's been a bit annoyed about it and has been trying to get some decisions since.

Impressed with the first half, Engels looks pretty assured and Trez looks a threat. Come on you Lions.

Kodjia on for Wesley perhaps? Or maybe Deano will bollock WM and we shall see better second half.

Good half that. I don't recall us playing with so many behind the ball under Smith, so I'm encouraged to see we can mix it up tactically. I agree that our forward line could do with staying on their feet a bit. Trez has looked good, made some good runs. Hourihane and Taylor have done well. More of the same please Villa, no complaints and no regrets!

I think Wes isn’t just a target man and we need to play the ball more into his feet. But this is part of his learning. He has to deal with the step up in quality and the expectations of being a top flight player in England.

Need to keep pressing.  Let their heads go down second half. Geez this is worse than being the game

We actually deserve to be leading. I expect them to put us under huge pressure as the game goes on but we look a threat on the break.

Great stuff from us.  Defended manfully, looked very dangerous on the break, plenty of pace.  SJM is the best player on the park so far: he's got everything. Even though Spurs have created chances they're guilty of over-playing and we deserve the lead.  In the first few minutes it was a bit heart in mouth but we've come to the party big time since then.

One negative point, Wesley hasn't done much except fall over too easy.  In fact two or three of ours have gone to ground too easy, rolling around and then getting up moments later right as rain.  I hate to see that.

Wesley has looked really strong well the ball was played high to him. I remember reading that players knew his temperament and would deliberately wind him up. So maybe a bit of coaching still needed. I'm sure he'll be a very decent player for us. Plus he's about to score a hattrick.
