Apparently both Dougy and Engels flew to the US. Engels should be announced today, Douglas by Monday or Tuesday

A lot is being made of the fact that Engels is a Central Defender, given that we appear to be a tad
overloaded in that position, currently . But it seems he has been used a lot as a central/ defensive, holding
midfielder, which is where Dean intends to play him, my guess......Godzvilla!

The point is that he's got flexibility throughour the back 5-6, with Konza able to play DMF or CB, as well as Engels. Mings and Hause are also very mobile, ball-playing and flexible. And Guilbert can play CB too.
So, as long as we find the optimal mix and can adapt our game when necssary, we'll be in excellent shape.

I don’t think we are overloaded. We have 5 and that’s only if you include Chester who is a big unknown. And then a a couple of those are versatile enough to play other positions. In what will be a very long and demanding PL season to have the cover we have is exactly what is needed. Two players for almost every position is what we need really.

Because he would have found a way to be a steward on the plane and by the end of the flight have found out from the their holiday plans and their girlfriends/wife’s favourite dish.

He's married to a Scouser. I share his pain.

Is he likely to be first choice next to Mings?

We've signed Engels?

Top Marx!

And given his age he should have surplus value in the transfer market.

He’ll be in contention. Based on very little info Konsa is smaller and looks the more cultured player, Engels a giant and little more rugged. It’s great to have some choice.

I would have thought it'll be Mings starting alongside either Chester or Engels, i reckon Konsa has come in as a longer term project despite the fee, and will be the long term replacement for Chester. It's probably a case of getting them while you can with the younger ones and allowing them a decent settling in period.
Chester had better not start. He was principally responsible (Nyland blamed very unfairly) for our 4-1 defeat at Sheffield United on 1st September. How would he cope against the likes of Spurs? We should get rid whilst we can still get a few pennies for him.

He was playing with a serious injury. He should never have been out there bailing Bruce out.

Go on Deano I dare you.  Buy a back three of Engels, Marx and Proust.
