He’s a big fucker. Imagine him and Mings up against you. So this now means we have a CB grouping of Engels, Chester, Konsa, Mings and Hause. That is solid. No need to give Cahill a fortune. We can work Chester back in who ends up being a very good back up when fit again. Just need to work chemistry. I imagine all is left is a keeper.

It's hard to see that there's even going to be a place in the squad for Chester.  For the sake of argument, if it's Mings and Konsa as our starting pair, then Engels is back up, with Hause cover at left back and centre back as required.  Going to take a big injury problem for him Chester to get anywhere near.  I think he'll be off this summer, assuming he's fit enough to pass a medical.

If I'd not found your reply, I was going to post the same. I'd really not be too shocked if we don't ask for a fee, either. He's probably got one move left in him, and a club being able to pay him a bigger wage because they've not had to fork out for a transfer might mean he can go where he'd like rather than simply to whoever will have him.

I would have thought it'll be Mings starting alongside either Chester or Engels, i reckon Konsa has come in as a longer term project despite the fee, and will be the long term replacement for Chester. It's probably a case of getting them while you can with the younger ones and allowing them a decent settling in period.

It would be good if he could play centre midfield and replace Whealan. But he'll have to settle in first and get used to the conditions of the English sideways pass.

Looks good - likes to get stuck in as well. I was thinking Ferdinand / Vidic kind of pairing with Mings being the Ferdinand and hoping for this kind of signing. Great. Welgekomen!

Glad he didn't opt to go to somewhere like Spurs.  Must've been the thought of living in the capital.

Dean tried to sign him last summer for Brentford. Obviously knows all about him.

Welcome, Big Fella.
