He’s a big fucker. Imagine him and Mings up against you. So this now means we have a CB grouping of Engels, Chester, Konsa, Mings and Hause. That is solid. No need to give Cahill a fortune. We can work Chester back in who ends up being a very good back up when fit again. Just need to work chemistry. I imagine all is left is a keeper.

Overall yes. A winger, striker and keeper. Another midfielder won’t go amiss.

It's hard to see that there's even going to be a place in the squad for Chester.  For the sake of argument, if it's Mings and Konsa as our starting pair, then Engels is back up, with Hause cover at left back and centre back as required.  Going to take a big injury problem for him Chester to get anywhere near.  I think he'll be off this summer, assuming he's fit enough to pass a medical.

That might be right Riss. But he’s back in training and my guess is he’ll be kept around for experience. You can tell the other players have massive respect for him when Jack went up to get the trophy so I don’t think we’ll sell him. If he even can be at this stage.

I don't think the new owners will be sentimental, and surely he'll want to play?  Fit, he's easily good enough for top 6 Championship.

Konza possibly covering for Luiz in DMF, as well.

This geezer can play DM too according to an article I’ve just read, really comfortable on the ball....
TBR’s view – Engels a bargain for Villa at £9m
Engels broke through at Club Brugge and was considered one of the best centre-backs in European football at his age. It has not quite worked out like that, but he is still an excellent defender.

Strong in the air, comfortable with the ball and intelligent enough to play in holding midfield, Engels has enormous ability and plenty of years left ahead of him in professional football at 24.

So, for just £9million, Villa are landing a bargain in Engels.

It would be good if he could play centre midfield and replace Whealan. But he'll have to settle in first and get used to the conditions of the English sideways pass.
