20m for me is   a good deal. He is still only 27 and he is trying.  He cares.

That for me is a key ingredient why we should.  If ollie wasnt so shit with his chance he would have had a amazing assist yesterday

Obviously it would be price and wage dependent, but…

I imagine an ideal squad set up would be 2 players for each pivot role:

- Tielemans/Luiz for the progressive passing role
- Kamara/Onana for the interception/link role

Pick one from each of the roles to mix/match as form and injury permit. Ideally there would be a young player for each role as cover and development (eg Bogarde as cover and to develop into Kamara replacement over the season.)

The real question for me is whether the money for Luiz could be *better* spent on someone else, but considering our recent track record I’d be hesitant to risk it.

In theory you're right: it's the drop-off between first-pick players and the back-up that is the current problem. Hemmings, Barkley, Bogarde don't quite have the ability to step in / same impact when required (a little harsh on Barkley and Bogarde, but neither add quite the same magic as the first-pick four). It's a problem for all clubs without the endless dosh of the Scab6 have; hence the big step-up when challenging for European as well as domestic success.

£20m gets you a squad player nowadays. I think he’d be an absolute steal

Yes and he will always give his best to Mister and to the fans. Villa are the love of his life and he won't let us get away this time.
