Yeah, Onana has failed to step up in the absence of Kamara. In fact, he was better before Kamara got injured.

If we want to compete at a high level. We’ll need better than him. Hes a stop gap, let’s keep it that way.

To be fair, most players are better when Kamara isn't injured.

I don’t think it’s that clear cut. If he continues his improvement as as option in the squad he would be very handy,

And that's exactly it.

True to an extent, but before he got injured at Arsenal he was excellent without Kamara. The absence of Kamara is obviously a huge blow - same with Tielemans and to a slightly lesser degree SJM - but the level of drop in individual players, as well as the collective, is disproportionately high.

In any case if Doug keeps his upward curve up he’ll be a big help. A midfielder making runs into the box is a big plus.

He’s ok, but that’s generally been my opinion of him. When Lindelof came in for the injured Pau, I remember most of us thinking that we were hardly missing him. That’s not the case with Luiz and Tielemans. Mostly that’s because Tielemans is irreplaceable in our team. Luiz offers moments, Tielemans gives us complete performances and control.

I’d be happy to have him around as a squad player, but with everyone fit, I think he’d be my 4th/5th option in the middle of the park.

He'd be a great option to bring on and see a game out and whilst generally I think he's improved, with the Chelsea game being one of his better appearances since returning, he's not getting anywhere near the starting 11 with everyone fit.

Anywhere near? He’d be the first midfield sub surely? You don’t think he’d get in in a Europa league game before a PL game at the weekend?

I think he’s looked good - clearly not fill match fit but I have way more serious concerns about Onana than him.  Both with look better with one of the magic 3 alongside them but dougie has been noticeably better than Onana or Barkley

Like I say I don’t think we should underestimate the importance of the midfield being progressive, and his goal the other night is a good illustration. Plus his chance versus Wolves. When we’re functioning better him doing that type of run will really complement what we have.

Sorry, was generalizing in a PL first team sense.
