Douglas Luiz has agreed on personal terms with Juventus!

🔵🟣 Aston Villa are prepared to accept Weston McKennie, Samuel Iling Jr and €20m fee.

↪️ McKennie likes #AVFC destination but still needs to clarify his exit details from Juve, then the deal will be sealed.

You'd think he would know his way out by now. Surely he doesn't stay there overnight?

A lot players sit on contracts I think Watkins did for a bit

Anyway, it doesn’t really matter if he goes he goes but I still don’t believe he really wanted to go I think he would have been happy to stay at Villa
Juventus are the Man United of Italy so he’s not slumming it

I really don’t think it’s Doug who wants to go, but he has a shit of an agent who clearly sees pound signs and no doubt will have been in his ear spouting all kinds of crap of how good it would be for you’ve career (ie my career)

He is a grown ass man, so makes his own choices.

Even if he was given poor advice.

Im not saying he has been in this case, but it's ridiculous to take the responsibility away from adult players when they make decisions.

And reports are that he's going to double what we are paying him. I'm guessing that DL isn't exactly upset at the situation where he earns loads more money than he was before.

I think it's a deal that suits all parties. Obviously we'd have been more than happy to keep a player as good as him, and I assume he'd be happy to finally crack the Champions League with Villa. But the chance for him to play for a genuine European giant in Juventus who always qualify for the Champions League, live in a great city like Turin and earn even more money, while we get a nice big profit for PSR, two new players to strengthen the squad and some cash, in a department that's probably our strongest makes sense all round.

I'm sorry to see him go but I wish him all the very best. Apart from if we meet them in the Champions League obviously, then I hope he's as shit as he's been since Christmas for us!*

Saying €5M per year.  That is around £80k pr week - surely he isn't much behind that?

I think more that his family will feel better at ease in Italy. Culturally,  climate,  language

I saw €3m to €6m per annum, but I think a big part of that is the favourable Italian tax system for foreign footballers.

Yep I’m sad to see him go. I think he’s a big loss, probably bigger than some seem to think, but if it sorts out our PSR issues and Unai is happy with both additions then in the round hopefully it’ll work out.

The €5m a year may be after tax.
Not sure the climate will be a decision maker unless he loves snow. Turin gets an average annual snowfall of 163cm. It's bloody cold up there. He should have held out for a move to Sporting!

Unless Iling Junior is a future superstar AND McKennie is better than adequate, this is a terrible deal forced upon us.

Dougie is a massive loss.

And reports are that he's going to double what we are paying him. I'm guessing that DL isn't exactly upset at the situation where he earns loads more money than he was before.

I would imagine if we really wanted to keep him we could offer him more money than Juventus, so it makes sense that if he is dicking around with a contract & if we need to resolve that fucking PSR thing then the club feel that this is the best move all round, despite interest in other players who should have sorted that problem.

I am incredibly disappointed with the choice from Douglas Luiz to force the situation though.

My positive view on the player is well documented in discussions with Timothy & what I thought we could have done to keep him by move on other players. And it's not like we aren't short of interest in other players.

But if he wants to leave & there is a contract gathering dust, then the club have to do what we have to do.

I am delighted with the Iling-Junior element of the deal. He is just the type of youngster that I want Villa to be interested in going forward. McKennie is a more physical player than what we have in the middle other than Kamara, so hopefully he fits in & helps us progress as a squad.

I was gutted when Grealish left. I was gutted when Chuckwemeka (sp?) left. But we have improved as a first team & as a squad since both left, so one decent player or prospect leaving isn't always the end of the world.

I am trying to force myself to be a bit more positive at the moment...
