I can’t/don’t believe Dougie is desperate to leave or even really wants to he loves it at Villa
Probably more to do with PSA or whatever it’s called now

Sounds like he’s rejected a contract offer.

He signed a new one not so long back

That poster who sometimes seems to know stuff said he's been sitting on a new contract for months and refused to sign.

I can't remember ever seeing why that poster knows stuff but everyone always seems to take what they say as truth.

That contract he signed was nearly 2 years ago. The length was never disclosed, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2026. So if he won't sign a new one then it makes sense to move him on as his value will drop as contract winds down, plus no point keeping him if he doesn't want to be here. If he did, he'd sign the contract.

You're right that the club have never said, and pretty much everywhere on the interwebs that do give a specific date, they all say 2026.

A lot players sit on contracts I think Watkins did for a bit

Anyway, it doesn’t really matter if he goes he goes but I still don’t believe he really wanted to go I think he would have been happy to stay at Villa
Juventus are the Man United of Italy so he’s not slumming it

I really don’t think it’s Doug who wants to go, but he has a shit of an agent who clearly sees pound signs and no doubt will have been in his ear spouting all kinds of crap of how good it would be for you’ve career (ie my career)

I don't agree and that makes him out to be a bit of a fool, which I don't think is the case, he seems to be a pretty level headed, smart guy to me.

No one is forcing him to leave. If he wants to go that’s fine, it’s disappointing, but he’s been really good for us. Even if he’s got a proactive agent that’s ultimately Doug who is choosing to go.

Heck will be double please as his leaving frees up an executive box as well, one that is always packed with his family. If he's supporting all of them no wonder he needs another signing fee.

At last, the mystery of how the wage bill went up so much in the last accounts! It’s so the players can pay Heck’s new prices.

Your imagination appears to be as active as McKennie's thyroid. Not very.

The suggestion being that Doug didn’t sign a new deal as his agent was trying to get him a move to Barcelona that didn’t pan out. He ends up at Juventus instead.

It wouldn't surprise me if back in December/January Barca got in contact with Dougie's agent about a move. The problem for Barca is they have little money and lots of deadwood. It would also explain Unai and Monchi's visit there late last month. If no swap deal was to Unai's liking alternatives were made and we then spoke with Juve about some of their deadwood. Juventus getting rid of McKennie was a godsend as he had served his purpose there and technically, not best suited to Serie A. Losing Iling Junior was always on the cards as they expected him to go back to England. A deal was hatched.

These last six months Dougie has probably thought he'd be off to Barca this summer and may not be too excited about playing in Turin, giving his agent a bollocking and told to sort things out with Barca. Thus the frantic, last minute begging calls to Deco at Barca unaware that the deal has been fully discussed with Villa and abandoned.

I love a good conspiracy theory, me.
