It was a pretty public bollocking he got last night from Unai.

Our midfield was ridiculously outnumbered, not excusing Luiz or McGinn for their poor passing but it was pretty obvious where our problem was.

He was thinking...I'm off to Arsenal in the summer and I don't want to annoy my new teammate Declan Rice, by also having won a Europa Conference League medal. Definitely, 100%!

Yep pure idiocy there. Completely unnecessary at the worst possible time. Took the wind out our sails when we were starting to get on top

No, the idiocy was conceding a corner after having ample opportunity to launch the ball into the stand.

Both were bone-headed.

The worlds best players thrive on pressure , feed off it almost , stand up and deliver in key moments - semi finals / finals etc . I know our players bar your Martinez / Tielemans / Zaniolo are in uncharted waters but you look and observe which players enjoy the pressure and those who don't .

I wouldn’t bench him. I’d stick with him, he’s too good and he will want to prove a point. He will really feel this result far more than us I’m sure. He cares.

Still image is very misleading though. Yes his arm was up and in an "unnatural" position (although I've always argued if the ball was going to hit the body then if not the arm, not a penalty), but the picture looks like he has jumped to punch the ball off the defenders head, not the ball travelling a foot and half into his arm from the defenders header.

The handball rule isn't fit for purpose, like you say he was only a foot away and gained no advantage from it - it would have just hit him in the head.  Compared to the ones that we didn't get against Sheffield utd its stupid
