Luiz has been one of our best players this season. He's driven, wants to win and shows it. I'd rather that than a passive personality.

The pressure is building now, and we're right in the mix. That's new for a lot of our players and definitely new for the squad as a whole and the club.

He's having a tough time, and it's harder still when you have to adapt what you're doing because of the absence of others. Luiz can usually get on with his job without having to worry about what Kamara is doing, when Kamara is out, he's then having to worry about his partner and whether or not they are doing everything that needs doing.

Assuming Tielemans is out now, we've no choice but to hope he gets back to what he's capable of. Hopefully being subbed against Chelsea will show him that his performance wasn't good enough.

Luiz only needs to score against Liverpool and he'll prove to be the best midfielder scorer we had in a season for nearly 35 years.
The history says since David Platt no midfielder has scored double figures in the league

Douglas Luiz has already scored as many goals in a season as Petrov did in his Villa career. 9

And Luiz has more goals in this one season than
Townsend, Hitzselberger, Draper, Houghton, Westwood,  Delph, Richardson, Hourihane in their Villa careers in the Prem.

How many of those were penalty takers ?

I think some people appear to have very short memories and have forgotten just how good Luiz was for us until the last 5-6weeks. Yes he's hit a bit of a wall recently but he has played a huge part in us being where we are in both the league and Europe.

So far this season he has made 48 appearances and delivered 10 goals and 10 assists and in more subjective measures Sofascore have him as the 20th best rated player in the league.

He's an exceptional player who has had an superb season but has lost his way slightly, lets not lose our minds because of a few bookings or a couple of bad performances.

I want to hear more from the strange folk that want to blame a woman for his drop in form.

I think he was actually pulled because he was already on a yellow, and had just committed another foul right under the ref's nose. I think Unai was worried about a red for one more mis-timed tackle.  No one played that well against Chelsea, so I don't think he was pulled for being particularly bad.  Unai could have subbed any of them!

They were trying to get him sent off. Was it Caicdeo who was rolling around, the cheating little ******, feigning a stamp.

Which is ironic because there's not many dirtier than Caicdeo.

Twas indeed. This is an aspect of the game we must get a lot cuter in. Don't get drawn in or wound up in meaningless spats

Fully agree, he carried our midfield for most of the season and was far more consistent than likes of Kamara and McGinn even. Needs to stop getting involved with incidents with other players though, it's very easy for referees just to give out two yellow cards and that nobbled him at the weekend.

Without Kamara he just has to sit in front of the back four and forget about adding to his G&A tally. He was deservedly hooked at the weekend but it might rile him up now for the final few games.

Yep, little prick, worst part was he took a second to think before acting like he'd been stamped on, if the ref had any balls he should've sent him off because it was such blatant cheating.

It’s no surprise with Dougie’s drop off in form has coincided with the whole teams drop off in form. What we need to do is get him firing again, not sell him.
