Been totally off it for ages. Tonight was the pinnacle - Trudging around the pitch in a daze, watching the game pass him by.

I’ve been of the view that Dougie is really at his best when Kamara is alongside him. And when Kamara is missing I don’t think Dougie is as effective.

He was a Rolls Royce midfielder until he got back together with Alisha. I miss that player.

Yes, you're always less of a player when you're in a steady relationship.

How so?

Absolutely but we shouldn't rule out the Alisha Effect. Close your eyes Footy Vil but he looks shagged out since Christmas. Coincidence? I think not. 😉

Abysmal tonight, looked as though he didn’t give a shit.

I mentioned the same in the end of the match thread. He breaks up with her around November 2022 (calendar furore). He is then tremendous for the whole of 2023. Then at the end of 2023 we hear they have made up.......

The on field discipline has been the biggest issue in his game

He likes to get forward, and becomes frustrated when penned back. He was very sloppy for their second goal, probably looking for a killer pass.

How many times did he get in the opposition penalty area tonight? Compare this to when things are going our way.

Yes that’s right. You easily pick up cautions if you keep the same tempo.

It’s no surprise he isn’t as effective as before Kamara got injured. It seemed pairing him with him played to his strengths which is a number 8. Controlling games, creating chances and scoring himself. Both our midfield and defence has taken serious adjustments at times and it’s been tough. The injuries must take their toll.

He’s been superb this season and prior to December I was thinking he’s up there with the best midfielders I’ve seen play for us. He was a massive reason we went on that brilliant run which propelled us up the league table from the moment Emery arrived.

He was poor, but when he's poor or doesn't play, I don't think we are quite the team UE wants us to be, we get a little impatient and the ball goes forward too quickly without the supporting players to build overloads. He's the rhythm of the team, and the night.

Deserves dropping. But with Tielemans out it won't be an option .
