Unbelievable tonight and really good for most of the season. When everyone is playing well this guy is a serious operator, when we are not firing on all cylinders, he's tied up trying to force it to get a performance.

Goals apart that’s the best individual moment of our season.

The pass from behind.

https://x.com/avfcofficial/status/1754129175533978012?s=46

What I really love about that angle (which I'd not seen before), is the way Dougie looks up, sees Ollie's run, but ALSO sees the defender and his body shape open towards Ollie, which means any attempt to play a through ball with the inside of his right-foot would give the defender a reasonable chance of an interception.  He could try putting it over their heads, but that then brings a sweeper-keeper into play.  So, instead, he used the outside of his foot and puts the ball in EXACTLY the same place as he would with the inside of his foot, but on the defender's blind-side so it goes behind him, wrong-footing him completely.  Brilliant improvisation.  You can see how close the ball gets to the defender while he's having to turn - it's just inches - but he can't do anything about it because he's having to spin a 180 to cover a ball going nowhere near where he expected it to be.

World-class stuff.

Watching again, I never realised the pass was his only touch. He lets Kamara's ball from the edge of our 18 yard box run before threading through Watkins.

Yep, 4 touches from the edge of our box to the back of the net. That's the sort of brutal efficiency we've been missing recently.

Agreed. We looked to take fewer touches and generally move the ball quicker all over the pitch, which was exactly what was needed. Emery just knows.

Dougie shaking the piss out of Onana. Not literally, he'd be up in court:

Bit silly really, out of all our players you would have expected him to bury that shot with his left too. Onana had last laugh there.

Thought he was back to his best yesterday and best player on view (Neville giving his pal Maguire motm was laughable, they can't play out from back because of him!). Distribution of ball was very good, defensively miles better than his hologram impression v Chelsea and that wasn't an easy finish for the goal either.

Needs to show some leadership now without Kamara next to him.
