He is the heartbeat of the team.  A lot of what he does is simple passes or receiving from the defence but it makes the whole team tick.

We know he’s capable but he’s been below par for a while. After today’s performance hopefully he gets some consistency back as when he plays well, we play well. An on form Dougie makes us such a dangerous team.

That pass, if it was made for Man City or Liverpool, would be the cover clip for Sky Sports News.  Wonderful, wonderful pass.

played well today but had the freedom to do so. He won't have many easier games in the EPL

Just about to post almost exactly the same thing. It's not that he's been poor but he has been on cruise control these last few weeks (since early December). I did wonder if he'd been burning the candle too much at both ends. His drop in form certainly coincides with his return to Alisha. Today he was back to controlling the game and driving forward with the ball.

He’s played just as well against better teams this season.

Unai Emery on Douglas Luiz: "He didn't feel very well this morning, but he wanted to play and had the power to play and get the performance to help the team. I decided to change him to take care of him and rest after the issues."

Other than Martinez, he’s definitely this. Some are not far behind.

Wasn't the only one to be fair, as the midfield knitter he needs threads to work with so to speak. Against Man City he was the best player on a field that included Erling Haaland. Nice to see him back to form today - as Chicago mentioned, that pass for the second was utterly filthy.

Good to see Jamie Rednapp commenting that if Kevin De Byrne had made that pass Sky knew would have it on repeat all week.
Yes we know Jamie!

Can we get De Bruyne in over the summer as back up?
