It's astonishing that while people are wetting their pants about how Man City want to buy Paqueta and Real Madrid want Guimares and there's this other Brazilian guy who is far better than either of them just quietly getting on with being brilliant.
Danny Kelly more or less said the same thing when reviewing the game on radio taking into account the current problems Brazil are having.

Insane Brazil aren't calling him up given he had a run of starts in 2020 when he was good but nowhere near the level he is now and then was part of their Olympics win the following year.

Guess it's due to them just waiting for Ancelotti to run down his contract and they've given the job for a year to local coach who prefers to call up 28 year old Brazilian league midfielders with hardly any caps.

Brazil seem to have morphed into what Argentina were doing 5-6 years ago. Ignoring european based players in excellent form and selecting mediocre domestic players instead.

Developing nicely under Emery , still makes errors (wolves A goal) but that's only natural at his stage of development

Don't normally take much notice of Crooks' ramblings. But thought his comparing Luiz with Mortimer was interesting.

Straying off topic, but thought not including Konza in that team was a big oversight.

Crooks is a dullard who only picks players who score, even if it's a keeper's clearance that hits them on the arse and bobbles in off the post. He has a four year old's understanding of these things.

I said soon after he signed that Luiz has a running style very similar to that of Dennis Mortimer.

Mortimer was past his prime when I started going regularly but I don’t see the comparison, with Ramsey maybe.

It was great to hear Ollie in his MOTD2 interview talk about it all coming out of the midfield duo.
I loved that bit too.

Nah he also picks players so he can ramble on about something totally different that happened in the match. Look at the picking of Rice and Van Dijk for examples of that. First one all about the handball penalty with a final line on "Rice scored" and the other about the Young and Konate situation with a final line of "Van Dijk defended".

West Ham used to get joy bullying our midfield. Definitely in that home game under Gerrard last season Rice dominated, to be fair Luiz completely outplayed Rice in the away game. But we crucified them in the middle at the weekend. Total dominance from the first minute. That new guy Alvarez had a nightmare for them, Soucek hooked early and JWP there only for the set pieces. Kamara did the basics very well and that included giving the ball to Luiz at every opportunity.

And from todays BBC Gossip column, headlined "Arsenal retain interest in Luiz"

Arsenal remain interested in trying to sign Brazil midfielder Douglas Luiz, 25, from Aston Villa having previously had several bids rejected. (90min)

Well yes, my 55 year old self retains an interest in shagging Kylie Minogue, but both are as likely as each other!!!

Fact:
Douglas Luiz has never ever missed a Villa game through injury.
What a pro!
