Is it me or when he came off he was waving the Holte End goodbye????

Fucking hell!

The ref made him go off the long way round the pitch and in front of the holte, he got a standing ovation of appreciation - which he had to acknowledge

So glad he stayed.

Now that he's adding goals to his game he's well on the way to being a top class midfielder. Surely not far off starting for Brazil now.

Our team is maturing like a fine wine and the younger players growing into experienced elites.

Keep on Dougging!!!

Dougie's entourage were in a box right behind me in the trinity yesterday, one of them, possibly his dad, going absolutely mental when he scored the penalty, pulled his Luiz 6 emblazoned jersey off, holding it hight about his head towards the pitch. Great to see

I have to admit since he has been here i always thought he played like he thought he was better than his actual ability and with a swagger purely because he was Brazillian.

I could not be more wrong - what a relavation this guy has been and is fundamental to our entire game plan - he is the heartbeat.

I cannot see how Brasil cannot pick him now as a starter as i just dont see anyone better in the prem in that position.

With Luiz I like to (in my own head) pick something he did in the game that I doubt anyone else on the pitch could've done, there's usually at least 1-2 examples.

On Saturday it was the little chip over their guy and then run around him and collect the ball again, not just for the technique but the more the vision to see that as a way of getting around the press was sensational.

I agree. I thought something similar.

But since Emery has arrived & given him permission to play his own game, he has become one of our most important players & is one of the first names on the team-sheet...

A lot of comparisons to Gareth Barry at the weekend and thought his pass with his left to set Digne free before the goal was reminiscent of Barry<Young back in the day on that flank. Still think Luiz could be a bit snappier getting back into the right position defensively at times but he's quality on the ball.

Had a shaky start with losing the ball outside our box then passing it out of play but got better. There was a moment where he beat two or three, shielding the ball and passed it to a team mate. Was great to see

Well done Doug.

Doug is every bit a £100m player if Fernandez is.

Remember when that Brazilian journalist said something bitchy about Villa and Doug was tweeting him saying he was clueless/and idiot? 😂

He defends us and I think he genuinely appreciates us.

We should make him captain if/when McGinn gets dropped.

Best player on the pitch today.

Love Doug but I thought Konsa and Bouba were the best today.
