I suppose the unclear thing, or elephant in the room is a potential release clause?? And how much....

A release clause doesn't mean we have to sell the player though. If he isn't looking to move they can offer all they like.

Any potential buyer would already know whether he would be interested in a move but we’d only get the release clause fee, say £60m compared to his true value to us and compared with other midfield transfers already completed this season, namely Rice and Caicedo.

Liverpool in for Gravenberch apparently, so Dougie probably safe for now. Unless they're stockpiling midfielders.

This lad seems to have been around for ages, I've signed him a million times on Footbal Manager, but I've never seen him actually play.

Seems to be a modern day Wilf Bouma, who was a kind of proto-Gareth Bale on the game years ago. I was extremely excited to sign him when we did, and was a bit bemused by the fairly basic no-nonesense left back he turned out to be.

Ha I thought the same thing. Initially it was like, doesn’t he already play for them but permanently injured. Their version of Traore or Coutinho.

Was he one of the players Man U were trying to sign around the time Maguire was supposed to be off to West Ham? I've definitely seen him linked with someone else this window.

The clubs I remember being mentioned this summer were Spurs (ha!) and Liverpool.

Oh maybe it was Spurs when they were still negotiating the Kane deal.

Surely, he wouldn't have played tonight if he was off somewhere.

They needed to freshen up their midfield even if they'd kept Henderson, Milner and Fabinho.
