John Percy saying that barring any major u-turn, Luiz is staying with us.

I can't work this out. Why not just take the money? If keeping him saves us £25 million that ti me is an admission we're I'm a relegation battle. If we were that confident the squad we'd be selling

I’m not sure I follow you?

He is going to leave for free so we're saying that keeping him essential. If we were confident in what we would have after he's gone, we would selling surely? I'm not on a wind up or "trolling" I'm being serious that are we thr type of club to turn down £25 million. Put it another way, how would we feel if we brought him for £25 Mill on a 1 year deal

So just so we're clear, you're simultaneously complaining that the owners aren't investing enough and that they're also mad for not selling a fringe player when they could get £25m for him?

Cancel culture on here?

At this stage of the window we have to keep him. Hopefully he’ll play out of his skin now for a great move in the summer.

I would think a spot on the World Cup squad for Brazil would be the real motivator.

He'll have plenty of offers come June.

Just a thought but maybe the useless oaf is going to start playing 4-2-3-1 therefore he plays further forward?

Selling him wouldn’t save us £25m, it would generate £25m (less what we bought him for).
Selling him doesn’t admit that we’re in relegation battle…it means we value him as part of the squad and don’t want to decrease or weaken our midfield options in the squad. If anything, it’s more of a slant on the other players sitting on the sidelines (such as Nakamba and Sanson).
We as fans and the management are clearly not that confident in the midfield options in the squad if we were to sell, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Why would we knowingly weaken the midfield options for the sake of £25m?

Maybe the coaches are having a word with him. He certainly needs some help, or maybe needs to listen and accept help anyway.

Doing a Hoolahan.

No that’s a blast from the past.

I was thinking of it the other day, for some reason, while also pondering the time that Mark Hughes quit Fulham to take the Villa manager's job that we hadn't offered him. Has any other manager left a club to take on a job that they weren't then given?
