If it is true I think it's a good buy for them, he'll do well in a settled team. No guaranteed starter by any means but they have European football.

Swap him for Smith-Rowe. 12 months on, we get our man. He's a sub for Arsenal now mostly, isn't he?

Just heard on Radio WM (I know!) that we've turned down Arsenal's offer.

Might as well burn £26m if true. Crazy

I want to keep Doug.
He’s scored for Villa within living memory.

We've got these "Serious owners" who "mean business" so why are we in a position where Joe, Carney and now appears to be Dougie have/want to leave. Add to that ESR turning us down last year, Ward Prowse and Sarr hardly banging the door down to join.

That attempt to buy Smith-Rowe was fucking laughable. As if he was going to leave Arsenal to come here.

I wonder hhow much time we've wasted chasing unachievable transfer targets

Agree, I don’t think Smith-Rowe was ever going to leave Arsenal, for us or anyone.
I think because he was stalling on a new contract we put our low starter bid and was, basically, told that it’s a non starter.
If we’d have been given any encouragement I think we’d have followed it up with another bid.

£26 million for a player who wants to go - take the money now or he will go for free at the end of the season

If he stayed how many games will he start??? Not many
