A spell on the bench required now. Shouldn't have started today. A few cute diagonal balls aside, he was largely anonymous.

How much of a surprise would it be if he starts next weekend?

None whatsoever.  Totally ineffective today and has been for months.  Seems more interested in womanising on Instagram.

I also think it’s not his fault that he’s not playing in a position that will get the most from him.

He looked much better when Nakamba was in the team and his shackles were off a bit.

So true, looked to have real quality when he was in that 8 position.

Yeah, if he was playing in his position and playing this shite then I would be hammering him but everyone and their dogs know he's not a DM.

It shouldn't stop him from putting in a shift though Edgy.  Get hold of the ball and pass to another Villa player.  Break up play and be solid and dependable.  Instead, he a shrinking violet.  I really do not rate him at all.

If you compared him to their No 6 who buzzed about all game it was like chalk and cheese.

I appreciate the struggles of not being in his natural position but he could at least put a shift in.

I dislike him more every game.

He's not crap, he's not a defensive midfielder full stop. He's to light, to slow and doesn't get the hard ball, watch how Marvelous tackles he leaves nothing behind, before his injury he was the steel in the defence and gave Luiz more freedom. At this time we need a hard man to play the position, doesn't have to be stylish just someone that likes stopping the opposition.

When Konsa returns, I reckon SG will play Chambers in the DCM position. It's not Doug's bag.

Really hasn’t kicked on from the excellent form he showed in the final dozen or so games of the truncated 2019/20 season Whilst mitigating circumstances are well documented ie having to play too deep etc , I am surprised that he hasn’t made a better contribution albeit not from his preferred position. Doesn’t appear to have the skill set needed to adapt.

I truly believe that the best role for Luiz is as a more defensive 8 to used against the better sides or those who are stronger in midfield. His performance in the home game  against Man City springs to mind. Unfortunately, because we didn’t address the DM issue again in January, we’re forced to play him there whilst Nakamba is injured. I’d like to see him as an 8 for a season and then make a call on him.
