I don't think Man City would want him for their team.

I did think they might take him back, as they could probably sell him for a profit.

Touch wood, he stays with us though.

We will hear of a new contract soon enough I reckon.

He's going to be a really good player for us.

I agree and who knows whether the clause was hanging over his head towards the end of the season, hence Marv getting a run out. I’m expecting more now he’s properly ours...

Well i am suprised City didnt exercise the option. 27m for a Brazilian international who jas hugw potential is good value for money.

He is going to be a big player for us

Turned out nice this didn’t it. Looked odds on that he would be going back to City with his excellent performances early on. His form dropped significantly (with the team) second half of the season and it didn’t look likely they’d have him back. I’m sure we haven’t seen the best of him yet.

I'm very happy to keep Doug,

Not a phrase we saw very often in the early days of H&V.

It must have been quite unsettling for him coming towards the end of the season, not really knowing where he would be next season.
This must have been on his mind.
Hopefully, now things are sorted, he will be able to focus 100% again.

Or he's not as good as you think he is.

Well he’s already shown he’s pretty good. So the likelihood is it was a drop in form rather than a reflection of his overall quality.

You're right of course, I too remember those couple of games.

I thought that Luiz was massively disappointing last season having been, in my view, our best player after 'Project Restart' until the end of the previous season.

This does suggest that he's got something about him but whatever that something is we didn't see much of it last season.

If he's going to part of a Villa team looking for the top 6 next season then he will need to step things up significantly.

he'll be playing for a brazilian world cup shirt, i don't think there could be any bigger carrot for him.
