He's currently in Brazil with the national squad but is suspended for their game on Saturday against Ecuador.

Seems plausible to me that we've already discussed an improved contract with him ready to sign once the clause has expired.

Could well be that our contract offer is better than the one negotiated from when he first moved here for his potential return to Man City.

Seems the buyback story is petering out, probably just a reaction to the CL loss and the media coming up with a 2+2 story. I'm pleased because while he hasn't set the world alight this season i'm more than happy to see how he develops in the next few years.

The thing is he'd probably look instantly at home in their tippy-tappy team, where they often have 75% possession in a game. We need more players as comfortable on the ball as he and Jack are. Hopefully Sanson might be a bit more of that ilk when he gets up to speed.

I think luiz is going to be a top player in next 2-4 years.  Lets hope we keep hold of him. 48 hours to go until this clause expires

Really hope he stays.

I'd be very surprised if Man City 'flipped' him. That will be a more expensive job than some previous posts assume, because you would need to factor in the 'loyalty bonus' (unless he submitted a transfer request).

If it were Spurs I'm sure they would threaten to, to try and get us to cough up a few quid to cancel the clause. But it's not as if Man City need the money...

Doug is the kind of player we need to be holding on to if we're going to make the next step up.

Whoever could have imagined we'd be in two minds about whether a current Brazil international midfielder is good enough for us?

That’s my thought too and unless Man City throw a last minute spanner in the works, I’d expect he’ll be confirmed as having signed a new contract in July.

There was a Supreme Court case the other week about when time runs in relation to something which had to be done by midnight on a certain day.

your a lot more up beat about Luiz than me.  He lacks consistency - occasionally looks the part but 60% more like a fish out of water

He’s a 23 year old Brazilian international who was instrumental in avoiding relegation last year. He’s going to gain consistency and become a superstar.

I do get you Paul - but I remember the Leciester game the last one before lockdown when he was terrible .  He did liven up in the lock down games but then was very hit and miss this last season.   If you were head coach at Citeh would you really want or need him?
