Jack, SJM and Luiz is going to be quite some midfield...flanked by 2 wingers and Big Wes up front. Any one getting excited yet?! 😁

On a side note, when was the last time we had a midfield unit looking this strong?

I really having to work hard at keeping my feet on the ground.  I keep reminding myself it'll be a struggle first season back but I look at the squad and think we can really do something.

Last time we had a midfield so strong, Barry, Petrov, Milner era?

It does remind me of the start of 09/10... but I can’t help remembering what came after.

Key for me is what happens next summer.  If the owners stick another big sum in the transfer kitty, I’ll start getting excited.

On his way ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
There is a worrying amount of emoji usage creeping onto H&V. I hope it doesn't catch on.

Song gets my thumbs up!

Excited that we've added the Brazil under 23 captain to the spine of the team. What with Heaton, Tyrone, Luiz, Jack (and SJM) I think the spine of the team is looking just grand.

I won't be expecting him or Marvelous to be starting the next few games.  They won't be up on fitness to the same level as the rest of the squad as neither had a pre-season, also they need to settle and mix and build up relationships with the rest of the squad.  Maybe even learn Chester's name  ;D

Marvelous was at the Afcon.  He only had two weeks off. I would imagine he might need honing to the higher tempo that is the premier league but he has been playing and training.  The honing element will also relate to Wesley, Engels et al.

12th May was his last match for Girona in La Liga.

He also played, and won Player of the Tournament, for Brazil under-22's in the Toulon Tournament. He played and scored in their shootout victory in the Final on 15th June.

Cheers :-)  So he's had roughly 7 weeks with out a competitive match which would probably suggest he won't feature for a bit.
